  1. Large sepia diazo print of Congress Hall in Nuremberg acquired by a US soldier

    Diazotype reproduction of the architectural blueprints for Congress Hall retrieved by 32 year old Colonel Max W. Goodman, a Jewish American soldier, in Nuremberg, Germany, circa May 1945. The monumental building was designed to be the congress center of the Nazi Party Rally Grounds, for which Speer designed the overall plan. Congress Hall was designed by Ludwig and Franz Ruff. The foundation stone was laid in 1935, but the building was never finished due to the outbreak of the war.     Collection of photographs depicting pre-war and wartime experiences of Joseph Dekalo (donor) and his wife in Sofia, Bulgaria, and in Strazagorod, Lucovitz, and Razgrad villages where families were expelled during the occupation.   4. Calel and Michael Kurzer collection

    Documents and publications surrounding the post-liberation experiences of Calel Kurzer [born in Kovno, Lithuania in 1902] and his son Michael Kurzer [born in Utena, Lithuania in 1928] who were deported from the Kovno ghetto and to the Dachau concentration camp in Germany where they were interned and from where they were both liberated. Documents include post-war identification cards for both men and publications, including the journals "From the Last Extermination" and "The Ruins of Lithuania"

  6. Henry Baigelman collection

    Contains documents pertaining to Henry Baigelman's participation in a jazz band called the "Happy Boys" that performed in displaced persons camps in Germany after WWII. Includes handwritten sheet music, song lyrics in Yiddish, certificates acknowledging group's performances, documentation stating that Henry Baigelman had been interned at the Flossenbürg concentration camp, and a copy of a Passierschein issued to him.     The Haim Roet papers consist of pre-war, wartime, and postwar photographs of Haim Roet; his family, wearing Star of David badges; his rescuers, Anton and Adelaide Deesker; and his brother Josef’s rescuers, Reinier and Margaret Veerman. Additional photographs depict Prims family weddings (Josef and Mathilda Prims, Maurits and Betty Prims), a 90th birthday celebration, a Jewish school in Amsterdam, and rescuers Max Leons and Arnold Douwes.     The Freud family papers consist of biographical material, correspondence, diaries, calendars, and subject files relating to Martin, Ernestine, Sophie, and Walter Freud’s pre-war experiences in Austria and fleeing to France and England. The collection also includes material relating to Ernestine and Sophie’s immigration to the United States and Ernestine’s career.   9. Booklet

    Booklet published on the occasion of 25th anniversary of the Jewish Gymnasium for Girls. The school was named after its founder, Józef Lajb Ab, who was the principal and the owner of the school which he established in August 1910. Over time, the school changed its curriculum from vocational to liberal arts elementary and middle and high school for girls. Ab served as the principal until 1931. The position was then held by Mrs. Stella Rein. The school continued to operate in the Łódź ghetto until September 1941.

The film "Nuremberg: Its Lesson for Today" is the official documentary of the International Military Tribunal held in Nuremberg from November 21, 1945 to October 1, 1946. It is set in the Nuremberg courtroom and recreates the case against the Nazi high command using German documents, photographs, and moving pictures. The film was completed by Stuart Schulberg and his editor, Joseph Zigman, in the spring of 1948, and premiered in Stuttgart in November of that year.   12. Vera and Max Klueger collection

    Collection of two (2) Deutsches Reich Reisepass passports issued in Vienna, Austria to Vera Degen and Max Klüger (donor and donor’s husband); stamped with red ink “J” identifying them as Jewish. Max’s passport was issued March 29, 1939, Vera’s was issued on December 12, 1938; both immigrated to the United States in April 1939; in German, French, English.

    An advertisement dealing with the Aryanization of the Kempinski restaurant in Berlin. The restaurant was located on Leipziger Strasse. The Kempinski name was changed to Borchardt on March 27, 1941.
