  7. Buchenwald liberation photographs

    Consists of three photographs taken after the liberation of the Buchenwald concentration camp by an American soldier. The photographs include an image of newly liberated prisoners sitting on the ground, and two images of a pile of corpses.

  8. Nammering photograph collection

    Consists of seven photographs of the reburial of corpses near Nammering, Germany. The victims had been in the Buchenwald concentration camp and were murdered in April 1945. Two of the photographs have writing on the back that reads "Czechoslovakia May 1945."

  9. Nina Gitler poem

    Consists of one typed poem, dated February 1942, entitled "Kadysz," written by Nina Gitler in the Warsaw Ghetto. In the poem, Gitler, who was sixteen-years-old, complains of hearing that American Jews are saying Kaddish for the Jews of Europe, though they are still alive and suffering. The poem was collected and identified by Simon Weber, the long-serving editor of the Jewish Daily Forward, and was published in the Forward.

  10. Elisabeth Steinhardt Welvaars collection

    Contains a Dutch passport issued to Elisabeth Steinhardt Welvaars donor's great aunt), and loose photographs and three photo albums illustrating the pre-war and postwar life of Elisabeth Steinhardt. The photographs primarily consist of vacation images from travels through Italy, Switzerland, France, London, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg, and include postwar photographs of South America, particularly Bolivia, where Elisabeth's immediate family immigrated. Elisabeth, who survived the Holocaust in the Netherlands, ultimately immigrated to Argentina after WWII.

    This collection comprises selected records of the County Starosty in Częstochowa, 1919-1939, towns of: Częstochowa, Krzepice, Mstów, Olsztyn and Przyrów, as well as 22 rural communes. Consists mainly of monthly reports related to political and social situation, to antisemitic propaganda and activities of the National Party (Stronnictwo Narodowe) and other right-wing organization's fighting squads.   12. Eva Sekules papers

    School report cards, correspondence, ration books, embarkation papers, identification card, travel permits, and related documents, documenting Sekules' schooling in Vienna from 1932-1938, her subsequent life in Great Britain from 1940 onward, and in particular, her service in the British military during and following World War II. Also includes ration books for food and other goods in postwar Britain, and travel permits issued by the Allied occupation forces in Austria, permitting her to enter that country on several occasions between 1949 and 1954.
