    It is winter, a group of older family members (including Benedikt's sister Nelly, who is Thomas's mother) are waiting outside the house in Jaremcze. The children are both walking. They all walk out of the house and down a pathway. Hanna is on the back porch with a croquet mallet, talking to Nelly in the window, playing around. Thomas joins her. Footage of the dome of the Bielefeld synagogue on fire interspersed with shots of bystanders watching it burn from open windows and balconies.   9. Sunday School trip to Mintard, Germany

    "Sonntagschule Duisburg-Meiderich Quadtstr." Led by Fritz Fackert and Oskar Brauner. "Sommerausflug 1936 nach Mintard" [A Summer Outing to Mintard, 1936] The youngsters (along with their parents) march along to the festival area. Children and their parents relaxing and frolicking about in a grassy area: playing soccer, drinking chocolate milk, and being sociable.

  10. Ukrainian bishops with Nazi officials

    Several Ukrainian bishops cross a courtyard. Once inside they are greeted by the German Nazi official, Waldemar Magunia, who shakes their hands. One of the bishops then reads a statement into a microphone. According to the narrator, their statement affirms their strong opposition to Bolshevism. MCU of one of the bishops and then Magunia.   11. Kazimierz Wilk collection

    Contains letters which Kazimierz Wilk (donor's late husband) was able to write from his cell in the Montelupich prison in Krakow, Poland and later from the Gross Rosen concentration camp; dated November 1943 - January 1944. Includes documents relating to Mr. Wilk's education and employment as a civil engineer during and after the war.

  12. Prague Trade Fair

Shot of the installation of an exhibit or advertisement consisting of a huge human ear- shaped sculpture. The narration says that this is the first fair since the outbreak of war and it has been very successful. Twelve nations are participating, demonstrating the importance of the Protectorate's economy.     Contains correspondence between Luba Lewin (donor's mother) in Vienna, Austria, and Samuel Moskowitz (donor's father) in New York and Washington, DC. Includes photographic portraits of Luba Lewin and Samuel Moskowitz, dated 1945-1946. Luba was born in Krasnik, Poland and survived the Holocaust on false papers as Regina Wisniewska. Samuel was an American soldier serving in Vienna, and the two fell in love. Luba awaited her immigration permit in Vienna and the two corresponded extensively until she arrived in the US in November 1946. Luba and Samuel married and built their family in Washingto...

    Collection of materials documenting the experience of Ruth Blumenfeld (donor) during theHolocaust. Includes photographs from Trzebinia, Poland, with armbands and Star of David patches visible on people's clothing; correspondence written to her in the camps; an ORT diploma; pattern books; and identity card from the Landsberg DP camp.

  19. Sidonia Neiman photograph collection

    Contains photographs documenting the experiences of Sidonia Weisz [donor] born in Vac, Romania (present day Hungary). She was deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau in 1944, where she took on the roll of spiritual leader for a group of women, many of whom are depicted in post-liberation images. Among the people photographed are Leah Weisz, Suri Green, Miriam Weisz, Liebel Koopchick, Idy Green, Rivka Green, Goldi Freund, Loisunnok Fritzlatoil, Ruchy Forcash, and Chaiy Forcash.
