    The Nachlass Richard Korherr comprises the personal papers of Richard Korherr (1903-1989), Chief Inspector for Statistics at the Reichsführer SS and Chief of the German Police and at the Reich Commissioner for the Consolidation of German ‘Volkstum’.     An inscribed Ner Tamid [Eternal Light] lamp donated to the Gilgenburg Synagogue Community by Joseph Marcus in August 1913. The Ner Tamid hangs above the ark in every synagogue. The lamp should never be extinguished or turned off, because it represents God's eternal and imminent presence in the Jewish community and the lives of its members. Joseph (1857-1934) was a member of the synagogue and the Jewish community of Gilgenburg, Germany (now Dąbrówno, Poland). He was married to Rosa Scherk Marcus (1866-1943?), who was deported during the Holocaust and killed.

    Consists of two Canadian passports issued in 1947 for Dorothy (nee Segal, 1919-2012) and Siegmund (1919-2005) Schnitman who met in Canada in the 1940s while living in Toronto after escaping Poland and Germany, respectively, in the 1930s. Both passports indicated the dates of their Canadian citizenship, granted in 1946, and their immigration to the U.S. via Buffalo, NY in February 1948 before they settled in New York City.
