  1. A letter and a Nazi publication relating to the Nazi view of Jewry

    Letter, from German Consul General in Montreal, Canada (L. Kempff), November 1933, addressed "Dear Sir" and elaborating justification for Germany's treatment of Jews, along with printed booklet, titled "Germany's Fight for Western Civilization," 32 pages, printed in Berlin. Letter may have been mass produced for wider distribution in Canada, in response to speeches of Rabbi Stephen Wise.

  2. Herbert John Placey family papers

    Materials collected by Hubert Plecinski, corporal, U.S. Army, during his time in Luxembourg and Czechoslovakia at close of WWII. Includes postcards to his wife/girlfriend, mimeographed list of servicemen awarded Bronze Star in July 1945 (including Plecinski), issue of "Yank" magazine from April 1945, brochure advertising book for BDM ("Maedel in aller Welt"), postcards from unknown German soldiers.

  4. Josef and Nesia Zalcman family papers

    Testimony (photocopied), of Yiddish text, presumably by Josef Zalcman (Joseph Zaltzman), along with photocopies of family photos and post-war DP identification cards for Josef and Nesia Zalcman. Text has partial translation from volunteer, and appears to deal with Zalcman's experiences in a town in Eastern Poland initially occupied by Soviets from 1939-1941, and then by Germans thereafter.

    The handwritten letter in German was written by Robert Klueger, an Austrian Jew from Donji Lapac, Croatia, to Paul Berkes, the donor's husband and Honorary Consul General of Finland in Yugoslavia (later Croatia), requesting assistance.

    Contains testimony by Hadassah Rosensaft about her experiences in the Bergen Belsen concentration camp.

    The Abraham Duke papers consists of copyprint photographs of Abraham Duke and his family. Also included is an untitled memoir of Duke's wartime experiences in various ghettos and labor camps, as well as photocopies of articles relate to his childhood in Minsk, Poland (now Mir, Belarus).

    Bound volume of musical score for an opera based on the "Diary of a Young Girl" by Anne Frank. Title (Russian) is "Dnevnik Anni Frank, monopera, v 4 stsenax, 21 epizody," with libretto and music by Grigori Frid. Parshitura, 1969. Inscribed with Frid's (Fried) address in Moscow. Second folder contains concert programs from performances in Kislovodsk and Pyatigorsk in 1976-77; Rotterdam, 1979; Stockholm, 1997; Syracuse, NY, 1978; with English summary of opera.

  17. Third U.S. Armored Division and Dora-Mittelbau records collection of photographs and maps

    Contains photographs of various scenes of wartime destruction in Germany and U.S. forces, including two images of Dora-Mittelbau. Also contains a map showing the progress of 3rd Armored Division across Europe from D-Day to V-E Day.

    The Alfred E. Cohn papers consists primarily of Cohn’s correspondence with various organizations regarding the state of Jewish life overseas, and the rise of anti-Semitism in Europe. Other letters from organizations thank him for his contributions. Other material in the collection includes pamphlets and news clippings, discussing relief efforts for Jewish communities in Europe. In addition, postcards consisting of more personal correspondence are also in the collection.
