  1. Hans Fassler testimony

    Interview with Hans Fassler, legislator from Switzerland, relating to the saving of Jews by a Mr. Grueninger during World War II.

  2. Sidney Etkin collection

    The Sidney Etkin collection contains documents obtained by Etkin during his time treating prisoners from the recently liberated Mauthausen-Gusen camp in June, 1945. The documents contain statements made by Franz Zeireis, the commandant of the camp. He details the camp conditions, specific torture done to prisoners, numbers of prisoners killed, and other facts regarding the management of the concentration camp. Also included are photographs of the prisoners and camp, taken by Etkin, as well as a newspaper clipping summarizing the role Zeireis played in the management of Mauthausen.

    Contains a testimony, typescript, four pages, about the experiences of Jane Keibel (born Inge Goldschmidt), originally from Duesseldorf, Germany. Describes the family's journey on the MS. St. Louis, return to Europe, how her family sent her to be sheltered by OSE, and how the family emigrated to U.S. later in 1939.

  8. Silvana DiPorto articles

    Consists of copies of a series of newspaper clippings from the Italian newspaper "La Spalletta", written by Paolo Meniconi and published in 1995. The articles describe the experiences of Silvana DiPorto, and describes her memories of the aerial bombing of Italy, hiding to prevent being deported, and learning the fates of family memories. Includes English language translations by Lilliana Baron.

  13. David R. Hubbard collection

    Contains a letter and nine photographs recounting a visit of U.S. Army Sgt. David Hubbard to liberated Buchenwald camp in May 1945. The letter is addressed to Hubbard's parents and describes what he saw at the camp site. Also includes a photocopy of an article from a magazine, undated, circa 1990s, titled "WWII War Stores, South Carolina," recounting Hubbard's experiences.

  14. Letter from German Red Cross

    Consists of a photocopy of letter sent from Gustav Israel Stein on July 20, 1942 from Köln, Germany, to his daughter, Grete Stein, who was then living in London. The letter, which was sent via the Red Cross, says that the family is about to go on a trip and discusses the state of their health. This letter, received by Grete (now Greta) on July 27, 1942, was the last message she recieved from her family.

  15. Leo Schadach memoir

    Testimony: Photocopy of typescript (225 pages), titled "Orasele pierdut," by Leo Schadach, about the author's deportation from Bukovina to Transnistria in 1941.

    The Arthur Greenleigh papers contains correspondence, reports, and various other records created by Arthur Greenleigh from the period of 1943 to 1956. From 1943-1946, Greenleigh served with the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC), and from 1946-1956, Greenleigh served with the United Service for New Americans (USNA) and the United Hias Service (HIAS). The reports and correspondence from his years at the JDC focus on assisting Jewish displaced persons during and after World War II.   20. Betty Weissberger Lauer papers

    The collection documents the Holocaust experiences of Betty Lauer (born Berta Weissberger), originally of Hindenburg (Zabrze, Poland). Consists of an identity card (kennkarte) issued to Krystyna Zotkos, the false identity Betty used in the Generalgouvernement in September 1942. Also included is a document, dated October 5, 1937, confiscating the property of Oskar Weissberger, Betty's father, who was able to immigrate to the United States, and a good conduct certificate for Berta Weissberger dated January 4, 1939.
