    Private papers of August Bohny-Reiter (1919-2016), a refugee aid worker and teacher. The collection consists of Bohny-Reiter biographical materials: photographs, records of civilian and military service, honors,and a diploma from Yad Vashem (1990); reports, correspondence, clippings, articles, publications and photographs relating to aid to refugees and refugee children in France and Switzerland, the founding of the Pestalozzi Children's Village, and cooperation with the Red Cross.

The holding originally contained correspondence between Fritz Bauer and Thomas Harlan. Immediately after accession, these documents were separated from the rest of the material and are now part of the bequest Fritz Bauer. Also in 2014, the Fritz Bauer Institute was offered correspondence between Thomas Harlan and his partner Krystyna Zywulska as a deposit by the author Liane Dirks. On 20 November 1952, Rudolf Slánský, General Secretary of the Communist party of Czechoslovakia (KSČ), and 13 other leading party members, 11 of them Jews, were accused of participating in a Trotskyite-Titoite-Zionist conspiracy and convicted: 11 including Slánský were hanged in Prague on December 3, 1952.     5 mark Łódź Ghetto coin saved by Halina Wolman Orski who was imprisoned there from 1941 until August 30, 1944, when she was sent to Auschwitz and then Stutthof concentration camps. Nazi Germany occupied Poland on September 1, 1939. Łódź was renamed Litzmannstadt and, in February 1941, the large Jewish population was forcibly relocated into a sealed ghetto.     The collection contains photographs and identification papers documenting Henry Greenbaum’s Holocaust-era experiences as a refugee in several displaced persons camps. Documents include identification papers from the Zeilsheim displaced persons camp, a Jewish Committee membership card from Neunberg vorm Wald, a document stating that he was an inmate of the Flossenbürg concentration camp, and a driver’s license. Photographs consist of fourteen photographs from the Zeilsheim DP camp, including portraits of Henry's friends.
