    The collection contains i.a.contains several thousand personal files of Jews convicted of various occupation crimes, such as being outside the ghetto illegally, not wearing the armband with the Star of David, illegal trade and smuggling, theft, forgery, and similar cases. This record group is of unparalleled significance in view of the excellent state of preservation of the files, and their completeness.

    The collection contains i. a. information on forced labour among Jewish artisans in the years 1940-1942, including in the local labour centre established specifically for this purpose, the Dom Pracy (Labour House, call no. 3045, 3046, 3052), as well as a list of Jews dating from 1940 (call no. 3060) and documents referring to confiscations of industrial plants owned by Jews.

    The collection contains documents including circulars and public announcements; minutes of meetings; reports on the work of the council to the German authorities; personal materials; documents on financial and economic matters, forced labour, aid to children, the poor and the needy; and lists of populations, resettled people, those employed in the labour camp at Lipowa Street, and the deceased.

  4. Polish-Soviet Extraordinary Commission to Examine Crimes in the Area of the Concentration Camp at Majdanek (1944)

    Part of the materials collected in connection with the activities of the Polish-Soviet Extraordinary Commission, mainly reports documenting the work of the commission (like the inspection of the area of the former camp and witness interrogation reports).

  5. The Archives of Prisoner Organizations (1942-1944)

    A significant part of the collection is secret letters, mainly addressed to families, written by prisoners in the years 1942-1944. Apart from illegal correspondence, the collection includes official postcards, which were allowed from spring 1943. The materials in this collection were handed over by the former prisoners and their families. They document the situation in the camp at different times of its functioning as well as prisoner self-help and camp resistance movement.

  6. Former prisoners’ diaries, accounts, and questionnaires

    Post-war sources: - accounts by former Majdanek prisoners (VII/M – 777 units) - accounts by former prisoners of the Lublin Castle (VII/Z – 74 units) - recollections concerning the occupation in the Lublin region (VII/O – 259 units) Moreover, the collection includes: - questionnaires of the former prisoners (VII/133 - 56 units – 12942 questionnaires) - personal questionnaires of the former prisoners (VII/134 – 44 units) - interrogation reports of the District Commission for the Prosecution of Nazi Crimes in Poland (VII/135 – 257 units)

    Most important for the subject of interest here are the files of the Komitet Organizacyjny Żydów Polskich (Polish Jews’ Organizational Committee) affiliated to the ZPP from the years 1944-1945, which include minutes of meetings and conferences, documents concerning Jewish writers, biographies and profiles of activists, and information on the situation of the Jews in the USSR

  10. Private documents of crew members and German soldiers (1939-1944)

    They include official identification cards, military IDs, private correspondence and diaries with some notes inside. While this collection was being compiled, it turned out that most documents did not belong to the camp crew, but to the German soldiers who were taken prisoners by the Soviets during Lublin battles. They were kept in a makeshift POW camp organized on one of the prisoner fields at Majdanek.

    This is a collection of several thousand applications by Radom Jews for identity documents, which contains a vast quantity of personal data, as well as the photographs submitted for the issue of these Kennkarten.

    The collection comprises i.a.the extensive correspondence in connection with the destruction and liquidation of synagogues during the Kristallnacht, 9-10 November 1938, and other antisemitic incidents; documents of the Związek Żydów Polskich (Union of Polish Jews) and other materials (file with the call no. 1963, Wydział I [Department I]).

  15. KL Lublin Administration 1941-1944

    Records created by the offices of the concentration camp at Majdanek in the years 1941-1944. The fund numbers 318 units, in which 17700 various documents are stored, such as: personal records of the prisoners and crew members, orders of release, reports of incoming transports, lists, prisoners’ sickness cards and work cards, cloths and money registers, and death books.

  16. Outside records (1941-1944)

    The records connected with the camp at Majdanek produced by different offices functioning in the Lublin region during the German occupation. The group of the most important materials in this collection includes notifications of prisoners’ deaths sent by the camp headquarters to Lublin’s Roman Catholic and Greek Catholic parishes (2777 documents) and orders of release from the camp issued by order police in 1944 (81 documents). The collection numbers 60 units.

    The collection contains i.a. German circulars and orders; files on social welfare; correspondence in connection with the establishment of the ghetto in Piaseczno; lists of real estate owned by Jews; population records; goods confiscated from Jewish shops.

    The collection contains i.a. cases concerning forced labourers, a list of residents of Rydzyna by nationality (1941 and 1943), various statistical information, lists of Jews from the camp in Kłoda (Judenarbeitslager Roden b. Reisen) dating from 1942, and copies of entries in the land register concerning the Jewish synagogue and cemetery.
