  1. Lieselotte Feinschil family papers

    Consists of correspondence sent to Lieselotte (Lelo/Lilo) Rieder [now Lieselotte Feinschil], who emigrated with her family from Hamburg, Germany to Philadelphia, PA, in 1937. Includes letters from friends about the situation in Germany and their own attempts and emigration. Also includes copies of documents related to the emigration of the Rieder family.

  2. Gaus Mirgaulis collection

    The collection consists of pen-pal letters written by Gaus Mirgaulis in Dresden, Germany to Jeanne D. Boeing in the United States. The letters were written between January and June 1939 and also include photographs and a postcard. In several of the letters Gaus discusses his experiences with the Hitler Jugend.

  3. D.A. Weckwerth papers

    The D. A. Weckwerth papers consists of a letter written by liberator, D.A. Weckwerth, addressed to Mary Ann, written from Eisenach, Germany, June 1, 1945; three black-and white-photographs of Eisenach; one negative; and three copies of photographs from Eisenach, Germany. The letter describes Weckwerth's visit to Buchenwald concentration camp, including the descriptions of the camp and buildings, its survivors and victims, and German civilians tasked with "cleaning the place up."

    The Gustav Müller papers contain correspondence, notices, and questionnaires related to the restriction of Jewish activities in German-occupied Czechoslovakia. The records document the dissolution and liquidation of Gustav Müller’s business, the relinquishment of his business license and his and his wife’s drivers’ licenses, instructions to sublet part of his apartment, rules about long-distance telephone use and the ownership of typewriters and bicycles, a Civilian Air Raid Protection ID card for his wife, and a notice that he had taken a course on anti-aircraft defense.

  10. Eva Goldenring Zernik papers

    Contains an article written in French by Eva Goldenring Zernik about her experiences in the French detention camp of Gurs and poems in German written during her time in Spain about her Holocaust experiences.

  11. Sofia Auguston memoir

    Consists of one memoir, 14 pages, in English, written by Sofia Auguston, originally of Riga, Latvia. In the memoir, she describes life in the Riga ghetto, escaping several mass shootings, hiding her family's tallit, and being sent to Germany by boat in 1944. She witnessed the sinking of a barge of deportees, but her boat arrived in Stutthof. From there, she was forced to march to Totenhof in Sofienwald, and, in the spring of 1945, was sent on another forced march, from which she was liberated by the Russian Army. After the war, she reunited with her son, who also survived the war.

  16. Rezso Kemeny papers

    Contains a letter and two postcards written by Hungarian Jewish attorney Rezso Kemeny in the Pestszenterzsebet, Hungary ghetto in June and July 1944 before his deportation to Auschwitz, where he perished. Also contains a 1944 factory worker ID card of his son, donor Miklos (Nick) Kemeny.
