    • 130 pages of the paper copies from the Central Archives of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation (in the town of Podolsk). The copies were brought to the museum in 1995 by a visitor of the museum. The copies are with the stamp of the archives only, without any references except number of description.

    The copies of the documents (numbers of the description: 288278, 288287, 288289, 288290, 288291, 288292, 288339, 288340, 288344, 288390, 288787, 288790, 288792,289462, 353266, 353267) consist of the information (name, surname, father's name, date and place of birth, military rank, date and place of death, place of burial) for 277 Lithuanian Jews who were soldiers in the Soviet Red Army's 16th Lithuanian Division and were killed in 1943-1944 in battles with the Nazis.

    The personal fonds of the collector Borisas Gurinovičius, who was able to survive the Holocaust in the East of Soviet Union. His sizable collection consists of a large number of old postcards with views of Vilnius of towns in Byelorussia. There are also personal documents of the collector, correspondence, panels from exhibitions, personal photos and portraits, etc.

    The list was compiled by the Jewish folk -artist Jakovas Bunka from Plungė. The list mentions 605 Jewish names. The copies of the original document were given to the Holocaust exhibition on December 6, 1996 by Jakovas Bunka.

Lists of local citizens brought to Germany for forced labour and their propagandistic correspondence to family members (they were forced to write misleading letters that claimed that their circumstances were fine.)

    The fonds consists of documents concerning confiscation and destruction of Lithuanian Jews' cultural valuables and attempts to save them in the ghetto. Items include orders, circulars, and correspondence of the Kaunas Gebietskommissar SA Hauptsturmfuehrer Jordan concerning confiscation of cultural valuables owned by Jews, communists, and Freemasons; documentation by Ostaland reichskomissar Lohse concerning the procedures for confiscating cultural valuables of political parties and organizations.

  15. Grigorijus Kanovičius

    The fonds of the activities and writings of the famous Jewish writer Grigorijus Kanovičius, who, age twelve, was able to escape to the East in the first days of the Second World war and thereby survived the Holocaust. In 1945 he returned to Vilnius; he graduated from Vilnius University and in 1959 published his first novel. His novels and short stories depict life in the shtetls before the war and how life changed later, and how the Jewish communities were destroyed. His novels are natural and precise, and are based on personal experiences and the tragic experiences of Lithuanian Jews in the Holocaust.
