    The collection contains various circulars and ordinances related to the functioning of the health service, and personal questionnaires containing very detailed personal data and photographs of people of several professions (doctors, dentists, dental technicians, midwives, nurses), including several thousand questionnaires of people of Jewish descent from the district of Galicia (their questionnaires were stamped with a star of David or the word “Jude”), as well as lists of Jewish doctors from various places in the GG.

  5. Izba Zdrowia w Warszawie Gesundheitskammer Warschau (Sygn.497)

    Selected materials from the records of the Gesundheitskammer, an organization established by the German occupation authorities to govern the administration of health services in occupied Poland. The records include hundreds of personal files: questionnaires of Jewish health professionals "Questionnaire for the first submission of medical professions" ("Fragebogen erstmaligen zur Meldung der Heilberufe"). The questionnaires contain personal details, information about family, education, work history, and a photograph.

    The school in Sarajevo for Jewish (Sephardi) children was formed in 1903. Records (books) of the school were preserved and kept in Elementary school "Jovan Jovanović Zmaj" Sarajevo, from which they were transferred to the Archive of Sarajevo. While not directly related to the Holocaust period, it is of significance for tracking information regarding Jewish families that lived in Sarajevo before World War 2, their addresses, education, family ties, etc. and comparing it to other data.

    The collection consists of a cigarette holder and a necklace with a commemorative pendant and mezuzah relating to the experiences of Izy Freudenreich after his release from Kaufering VII slave labor camp in Landsberg, Germany, when he lived in Landsberg displaced persons camp in Germany.

    Contains a photocopy of Toiba Shulimovna Shtern's memoir describing life in Izyaslavl, Ukraine following the German invasion in May 1941; her escape with her mother shortly thereafter to Moscow, Russia; and her 5-day visit to Izyaslavl in 1979 during which she went to see the area of the former Yzyaslavl ghetto and several sites of mass shootings of Jews, and spoke with former neighbors and friends who told her about the liquidation of the Izyaslavl ghetto in the fall of1941.

  11. J Malan Heslop papers

    The papers consist of two binders holding photographs, newspaper clippings, a copyprint of a cartoon, a pamphlet, "Betrifft Widerstand," and an unpublished memoir by J Malan Heslop, who was a photographer with the 167th Signal Corps Unit that documented the experiences of the United States Army in Europe during World War II culminating with the liberation of Ebensee and Mauthausen concentration camps.

George Mitnick before and during his tour of duty as a Captain in the US Army, 65th Infantry Division, in Europe where his unit liberated Ohrdruf concentration camp in Germany and assisted in the liberation of Mauthausen concentration camp in Austria and after the war in the United States.

    The J. Herbert Nagler papers consist primarily of letters Nagler wrote to his parents in Philadelphia while he was studying medicine in Berlin, Germany and in Basel and Fribourg, Switzerland. His letters include his impressions of the last years of the Weimar Republic, the Nazi party and Hitler’s assumption of power, the situation of Jews in Germany, and the April 1, 1933 anti-Jewish boycott. The collection also includes an electronic typescript of Nagler’s letters and a digital image of Nagler.

    The letter was written to Col. Wooten from J. Nestel in Salzburg, Austria, requesting that Capt. D'Jernes remain as commander in the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration (UNRRA) displaced persons camp "Beth Bialik" (Jewish Transit Camp #2). Attached are 51 sheets containing 1,417 signatures from camp residents.
