  1. Fighting war disease; UNRRA

    Orientation Film no. 17 : shows widespread devastation and deprivation resulting from the war and conducive to disease and epidemics. Reel 2: Medicines are made and administered. Italians are isolated and inoculated. Swamps are drained and sprayed and natives treated in the South Pacific. Europeans receive food and clothing from UNRRA and military units, are pooled for identification, and return to their homes. Includes views of the San Francisco Conference.

  2. Streator Times Press newspaper article

    Contains a newspaper clipping from the Streator Times Press, dated June 12, 1944. Headline reads: "Jews Still Being Killed by Germans." The article details President Roosevelt's comments to Congress with his submission of a report on caring for war refugees. "Knowing they have lost the war, the Nazis are determined to complete their program on mass extermination." He then details the work of the War Refugee Board.

    Consists of documents relating to the Gewing family's emigration to Shanghai, China, during the Holocaust. The papers include the donor's innoculation certificate for emigration into China and identification card for a Shanghai chapter of Berit (Brit Trumpeldor), a Chinese census form for the Gewing family, and the 26 September 1948 issue of the Shanghai Echo, a German-language newspaper.

    Cloth sailor doll that was purchased for the donor, Inge Raphael Rothschild, by her parents while aboard the SS President Harding, which sailed to America in 1938, when they fled Nazi Germany.

    The papers consist of Wiktor Poznanski's provisional identification card from Mauthausen, a copy of his diploma from Uniwersytet Warszawski, his certificate of incarceration from the International Red Cross, and other documents relating to the experiences of Wiktor Poznanski before, during, and after the Holocaust.

    The papers consist of 20 documents relating to Elsa Gutter Deutsch and Grete Gutter Knoblich, Melissa Cutter's paternal aunts, and two photographs of Jean Gutter, Melissa Cutter's father.

    A photograph of Chateau Viellesegure, attached to a page with handwritten song lyrics addressed to American soldiers that indicates when the soldiers leave they should "always remember those who work for Palestine."

  13. Ruth Shapiro Igdal collection

    Collection consists of one yearbook entitled "Pictorial Review; Vaad Hatzala, Germany," 1948, which describes Vaad Hatzala's multi-faceted work with refugees (in English); one compendium book of the testimonies of Lithuanian survivors, collected in 2002 (340 pages, in LIthuanian); one CD-ROM containing 580 black and white photographs taken between 1920-2003 from the private collection of Ruth Shapiro Igdal. The CD-ROM, entitled "The World I Knew" also contains an index of the photographs (in English) and a history of the experiences of the Shapiro family before and during the Holocaust.
