Acquisition

The Bay Area Holocaust Oral History Project (BAHOHP) began conducting interviews in 1981. Originally conducted on audio tape, BAHOHP began conducting the interviews on videotape in 1989. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum received the tapes of the videotaped interviews from the Bay Area Holocaust Oral History Project beginning in June 1999. In the late 2000s, the collection became known as the Holocaust Center of Northern California collection. In 2010, the Holocaust Center of Northern California was subsumed by the Jewish Family and Children's Services where the collection is now maintained in the center’s Tauber Holocaust Library.
