History

The RHC Groninger Archieven is the information center for the history of the city and province of Groningen.

Archival and Other Holdings

The Groninger Archieven accommodate approximately 27 kilometers of documentation, the materials consist of photos, films, videos, sound recordings, newspapers, and maps. The Groninger Archieven are in the posssession of a vast collection of materials related to the Second World War in the province of Groningen. An introduction to Jews living in Groningen and the materials and literature related to this topic can be found on the website. Moreover, a photo book which tells the story of Groningen during the occupation of the Nazis has been published by the Groninger Archives and contains unique photos from the archives.

Opening Times

The Groninger Archieven are open on Tuesday from 9am to 9 pm and from Wednesday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. The reading room is open on a number of Saturdays per year, for more details consult the website.

Conditions of Access

Before entering the reading room of the Gronginer Archieven it is required to register with a valid passport of driver's license at the reception desk. After registration you will receive a archive pass with which you can register your visit.
