    Consists of correspondence, passports, photographs, newspaper clippings, and other documentation of the Nussbaum and Koch families of Luxembourg. Includes papers and photographs related to Albert Nussbaum, who had worked with refugees in Luxembourg before working for the Transmigration Bureay of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee in Lisbon, then emigrating to the Dominican Republic; and to Gustav Nussbaum, Helene Kleinberg Nussbaum, Marguerite (Martha) Koch, and Rene Nussbaum.

    An autobiographical memoir by Janina Spinner Mehlberg, edited by Dr. Arthur Layton Funk; the memoir includes photocopies of photographs of Janina Mehlberg and her husband Henry. The testimony describes the experiences of Mehlberg and her husband as refugees in hiding in Lublin, Poland, during the Holocaust and their involvement with an underground movement to assist the prisoners of Majdanek.

    Photographs (7) of Perla Zinn, dating from1943-1946, including two photographs taken in Ottenhofen, Germany, in 1943, several taken in various locations in Germany, post-liberation, including Erlangen, Deggendorf, and Hochland, 1945-1946, and a photo of Mozes Zeiger, inscribed to her, dated 1946, as well as a photograph taken in a displaced persons camp, likely Foehrenwald, undated. Also includes two identification cards for Zinn, using the false name of Zofia Molinska, one issued in Poland in 1939 and the other issues at the Bleidorn displaced persons camp in Germany, 1945.     The papers consist of twelve photographs depicting Leah and Phillip Zaks Zakuska and their son, Michael in a DP camp in Florence, Italy, after World War II; seven photographs of unknown persons with Yiddish inscriptions on the verso; and one letter written to Ann Fonaroff of the United Service for New Americans, Enc. on November 2, 1948, on behalf of Philip, "Lisa", and "Moses" Zaks and concerning their immigration to the United States.     The Henny Haas papers consist of a passport and travel pass for stateless persons issued in Italy to Henny Haas and her parents, Oscar and Mania Notowicz; a permit to stay in Italy issued to Oscar Notowicz; an exiles identification card issued to Oscar Notowicz by the Allied Military Govt.; and a permanent identification card issued by the U.S. War Relocation Authority to Oscar Notowicz as a resident of Fort Ontario.

    Contains one postcard dated May 27, 1939, written and sent from Fritz Marcus to his niece, Ursula Traugott, from aboard the MS St. Louis; and two postcards, dated June 22 and July 22, 1939 sent to Ursula and Wolfgang Traugott in Providence, RI, from Fritz Marcus after he arrived in London, England.

    The collection consists of documents and photographs relating to Mania Schwartz [donor] and her husband, Morris Parnes, documenting their experiences immediately following the Holocaust. Included in the collection: photographs from the Leipheim DP camp, the Ketubah and photographs from the Parnes' wedding day, documents from the ORT school issued to Morris Parnes, and papers relating to their immigration to Canada.

    The papers consist of a map of southern France, a photocopy of the "Etat-Major" map showing the route used by refugees to flee into Spain, newspaper clippings, a postcard of a painting ("La Defense du Col de Banyuls") showing typical "Banyulese" costume, a circulation permit dated 1939 allowing an individual to work, and a declaration of the wine production of M. Ferrer Sauveur's grape harvest.

    The collection documents the post-war experiences of Esther Wilkenfeld (née Halm), originally of Yasinia, Czechoslovakia (Yasinia, Ukraine), including identification cards, a document from the Labor Office of Glauchau, and certificate from the Feldafing displaced persons camp labor office.

    The collection documents the Holocaust experiences of Eli Oliff (born Eliasz Olewnik), originally of Żuromin, Poland. Included are two photographs depicting Eli in his concentration camp uniform after liberation at Buchenwald, a letter with envelope written by Eli in the Garmisch Partenkirchen DP camp to his relative Joseph Olev in Chicago, Illinois.

    The Ida and Murray Turner papers consist of identification papers, certificates, and a photograph documenting Ida and Murray Turner’s experiences at the small Jewish displaced persons camps at Bad Gastein and Ebelsberg and their immigration to the United States with the help of the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS) in 1949.

Topics range from everyday life (school, work, family business, health, and weather) to life after liberation, conditions in an United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration (UNRRA) camp, finding work, disappointment, attempts to immigrate to the United States, happiness, and starting a new life.
