  1. Bavarian Biological Research Institute letter of protest

    The typed letter was written by members of the Bavarian Biological Research Institute (Bayerische Biologische Versuchsanstalt), protesting that no outrages were being done to Jews in Germany in spite of media reports to the contrary. The letter bears 36 signatures of members of the Bavarian Biological Research Institute.

  2. Giovanni Palatucci papers

    Contains a biography of Giovanni Palatucci (1909-1944), who, as the police commissioner of Fiume, on the Italian coast, worked to ensure the safe migration of refugees, prevent the looting of Jewish homes, hid files, and supplied money to refugees attempting to escape the Gestapo. In September 1944, he was arrested and sent to Dachau, where he perished. He was named Righteous Among the Nations by Yad Vashem. Includes a certificate honoring Palatucci and the typed testimony of Goty Bauer of Milan, Italy, regarding his experiences with Palatucci.

  11. Rozenberg family collection

    Contains three documents, one original and two negative prints of a marriage certificate of donors' uncle, Aron Rosenberg [sic] and Chaja Kantonist; issued to them in Stuttgart, Germany; dated February 19, 1946. Aaron Rozenberg (donors' uncle and great uncle) and Chaja Kantonist were both survivors of Auschwitz, who were married after the Holocaust. Aaron's first wife and six children were killed at Auschwitz upon their arrival. After the war he immigrated to Argentina, where his sisters lived. They had previously settled there in 1935.

    Typescript memoir of life in Dachau by a Jewish inmate, Heilbrunner, in 1933. Written in the form of a narrative in the first person and structured into four chapters, it describes in some detail the conditions in the camp and the brutality of the camp guards.   18. Henry Barson collection

    Consists of 49 photographs of the liberation of Bergen-Belsen from the collection of Henry Barson, a member of the 249th Battery of the British 63rd Anti-Tank Regiment, Royal Artillery, 11th Armoured Division, which liberated the camp on April 15, 1945. Includes portraits of survivors and images of the burial of bodies.

    Het archief vormt de papieren neerslag van het handelen van de opeenvolgende Leeuwarder overheidsbesturen. Onder inventarisnummer 3965 - 4048 zijn de notulen van vergaderingen van de gemeenteraad en het College B&W te vinden. Onder inventarisnummers 4022-4043 en 4800-5287 vindt u stukken betreffende personeelsaangelegenheden, onder 4100-4141betreffende personeel van de politie.
