    Consists of 26 original photographs of the liberation of Buchenwald concentration camp. Contains images of clothed and unclothed bodies in mass graves, local townspeople forced to move bodies from mass grave sites, and live prisoners in bunks. Taken by Robert Slack during his service with the US Army during WWII.

    Court civil cases related to the custody of children, alimony, repayment of debt and other similar matters. Parties in these lawsuits were Jews, inhabitants of Skierniewice. The files contain personal data about participants of lawsuits.

    This collection contains selected records of the city Żyrardów in Poland, e.g. registers of permanent inhabitants and houses, birth certificates, circular letters and other documents issued by the German authorities (1940-1943); witness testimonies relating to the crimes committed by the Gestapo and gendarmerie; documents relating to the changing of surnames, social welfare in the wartime including a list of victims, and documents of the WWII Committee of the Exhumation of those Murdered by the Nazis.

    Consists of one memoir, 36 pages, entitled, "One in 6,000,000: One Woman's Story of Survival," by Hilde Geisen. In the memoir, she describes her childhood in Cologne; her memories of Nazi persecutions; her failed attempt at immigration to the United States; the deportation of her parents; life in Theresienstadt; post-war life in Deggendorf; and immigration to the United States in 1947. Includes a copy of her identity card and a 2002 portrait.

  10. Kahn family papers

    The collection documents the Kahn family’s experiences in Germany, France, and Switzerland during the Holocaust. The bulk of the collection consists of letters written to Ruth Kahn in Switzerland from her parents Leo and Elfriede Kahn and her sister Marga Kahn in Sulzburg, Germany and internment camps in southern France at Rivesaltes, Gurs and Les Milles. Also included is other correspondence, identification papers, restitution paperwork, immigration documentation, and a photograph album.     Correspondence from Chaim Rumkowski, Chairman of the Łódź Ghetto Jewish Council, concering delivery of furniture from company Schultz and Schmitz, dated November 28, 1941 and stamped December 1, 1941, on letterhead from "Der Aelteste der Juden in Litzmannstadt"; Receipt: discharge, stamped September 17, 1941, issued by Friedrich Hoppert [limited partnership] in Litzmannstadt [purpose of this receipt is unclear].

  12. Goldschmeid and Burstyn families collection

    Documents, correspondence and photographs illustrating the experiences of Imré and Borbala Wirth Goldschmeid and their daughter Veronika Goldschmeid. Included are pre-war images and documents such as birth certificates and report cards for Imré and Borbala, and post-war documents concerning Veronika, Borbala, and Borbala's mother Julianna who were together in Budapest until 1944 at which time Vera was placed with the Red Cross, and Borbala and sister Margit were deported to Bergen Belsen where they survived. Juliana and Mor (Borbala's parents) perished of hunger in January 1945 in Budapest....

    Manuscript memoir, in Yiddish, 120 pages, describing David Newman's experiences in the Skarżysko-Kamienna forced labor camp in Poland during the German occupation, and his subsequent imprisonment at Buchenwald, written by Newman in 1988. An English translation by Miriam Beckerman, from 2006, is also included.     The collection contains an inventory of the Romanian citizens in Cluj county, dating from 1924-1952; as well as lists of Jews and Christians in Cluj, Gherla, Mociu commune, Câțcău commune, Dej, and Turda, Romania, compiled in 1938, 1945 and 1949. Lists complaied in 1938 are mainly based on the lists of 1924.

    Consists of one folder of envelopes, postcards, and programs produced by Congregation Adath Israel of Woodbridge, NJ, as part of their Holocaust commemoration. The envelopes, many of which carry WWII commemorative postage stamps, commemorate the rescue of the Danish Jews in 1943, the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the concentration camps in 1995, the 60th anniversary of the sailing of the MS St. Louis.
