Acquisition
Forms part of the Claims Conference International Holocaust Documentation Archive at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. This archive consists of documentation whose reproduction and/or acquisition was made possible with funding from the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany.
Source of acquisition is the Arhivele Naţionale ale României (National Archives of Romania). Collection is provided by Beth Long, a genealogist who conducted research in Romania. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum received the filmed collection via the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum International Archival Programs Division in 2013.
Scope and Content
The collection contains an inventory of the Romanian citizens in Cluj county, dating from 1924-1952; as well as lists of Jews and Christians in Cluj, Gherla, Mociu commune, Câțcău commune, Dej, and Turda, Romania, compiled in 1938, 1945 and 1949. Lists complaied in 1938 are mainly based on the lists of 1924.

Arranged in eight series: 1. Citizenship inventory of the Cluj county, 1924-1952; 2. Various register books of Cluj, 1924; 3. List of citizens of Dej, 1945 (Book #106), and lists of Romanian citizens of 1924 (Book # 107); 4. Jewish people with Romanian citizenship, Cluj, Romania, 1938 (Book #41; List of ca. 37,000 family units, 185 double pages); 5. List of citizens of Turda, Romania (Book #224; 308 double pages with 10 family units per double page. Percentage of Jewish families unknown); 6. Name list of Câțcău commune, Romania, 1945 (Book # 88); 7. List of citizens of Gherla, Romania, 1949 (Book #116; 2,043 family units, mostly Christians); 8. List of citizens of Mociu commune, Romania, 1924 ? (Book #169; mostly names of Christians). Register books are organized alphabetically.
