  1. Anna Majewska Woźniakowska collection

    Consists of one memoir, entitled "69/71 Mokotowska Street, 1934-1944," by Anna Majewska Woźniakowska, originally of Warsaw, Poland. The memoir describes her memories of her childhood home and friends, and her memories of the German occupation and resulting deportations. Also includes a hand-drawn map of the area. This collection is dedicated to the memory of Ms. Woźniakowska's childhood friend Jankielek.

  2. Leon Weliczker Wells notebooks

    The Leon Weliczker Wells notebooks consists of fourteen volumes and two pages written by Wells during his second period of imprisonment in the Janowska concentration camp and while in hiding in the basement of the Kalwinski family following his escape. Wells describes the work of Sonderkommando 1005 in the Janowska camp, his escape, and his hiding place on the Kalwinski family’s farm. These notebooks were widely published as "The Janowska Road" and "The Death Brigade."

  3. "Pilgrimage to Jeleniewo" collection

    Consists of one videocassette, entitled "Pilgrimage to Jeleniewo," which shows the restoration and re-consecration ceremony for the pre-war Jewish cemetery in Jeleniewo, Poland. The cemetery had been desecrated during the Holocaust and was forgotten by the citizens of Jeleniewo. Also includes one booklet entitled, "Żydzi Jeleniewa," which describes the restoration of the cemetery and shows the headstones found in the cemetery.

  4. Paul and Martha Landmann collection

    Consists of correspondence between Paul Landmann and Martha Wertheimer and between Martha Wertheimer and S. Oppenheimer during World War I. In some of the correspondence, the authors hypothesize what life will be like for the Jews in Germany after the war. Paul and Martha married soon after the war, and the collection also includes some of Martha Wertheimer's post-World War II correspondence.

  5. La Villa Mariana OSE home photographs

    Consists of photographs taken of the OSE home at Boulouris, La Feuille, France, which was moved to St. Raphaël and named "La Villa Mariana" in 1941. Includes photographs of some of the OSE staff members and of the children who lived there.

  6. Israel Sjouwerman identification card

    The identification card was issued to Israel Sjouwerman in Antwerp, Belgium, and states that he was born in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on January 9, 1874.

  7. Henry and Harriet Fink photograph

    Consists of one photograph, dated July 29, 1938, of Henry (Heinz) and Harriet (Peppi) Fink walking in front of a Hitler Youth parade.

  8. Lt. Col. Samuel Harby photographs

    Consists of photographs taken by Lt. Cdr. Samuel F.Harby of fellow American soldiers in Germany, the destruction of various cities and towns, and of the liberation of the Dachau concentration camp. Harby, who held a PhD in Educational Research, was producing training and education films for the United States Navy and came to Germany under those auspices.

  9. Norbert and Mina Butterklee letters

    Consists of letters written to Samuel and Paula Butterklee from their parents, Norbert and Mina Butterklee, from 1938-1942. Norbert (Nissen) and Mina (Menie) Butterklee, of Vienna, Austria, sent their children, Samuel and Paula, to the United States to escape Nazi persecution. Though they attempted to obtain visas for themselves, Norbert and Mina were unsuccessful, and perished during the Holocaust. The letters discuss their attempts to escape and their love and hopes for their children.

  10. Estella d'Ancona-Vieijra papers

    The papers relate to the experiences of Estella d'Ancona-Vieijra immediately after World War II. Photographs of the d'Ancona family before the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands, birth announcment of Hetty d'Ancona, and post war correspondence.

  11. Photograph of Jeanine Fields

    The photograph depicts Jeanine Fields as a child in the displaced persons camp in Selb, Germany, following the Holocaust.

  12. Wasner and Wand families' papers

    The Wasner and Wand families papers are realated to the experiences of the Wasner and Wand families in Poland during the Holocaust and include false identification papers used by Regina Wand and Rozalia Wand, a birth certificate reissued to Zygfryd Wasner after World War II, and the ketuba of Zygfryd Wasner and Regina Wand.

  13. Fernbach family papers

    The papers relate to Werner Fernbach and Margot Lewandowski Fernbach [donor's parents] and their experiences immigrating to Palestine in 1938 and to the United States in the 1950s.

  14. Uriel Hanoch photograph collection

    The photographs document the experiences of the Hanoch family in Kovno (Kaunas), Lithuania, before World War II and the experiences of Uriel Hanoch and her brother in a displaced persons camp in Germany and Italy after their liberation from concentration camps.

  15. Johanna Deutsch papers

    The papers consist of 17 photographs and letters documenting the experiences of Johanna Deutsch [donor] and her family in Vienna, Austria, and Palestine during the time period of the Holocaust.

  16. Photograph of Helena Zymler

    The collection includes an identification photograph of Helena Zymler taken in Łódź, Poland, in 1946.

  17. Joseph Kempenich prayer books

    Contains six Hebrew prayer books, published in 1901, belonging to Joseph Kempenich. Mr. Kempenich gave the books to his family, whom he was planning to join in the United States, for safe-keeping when they emigrated in 1938. Unable to escape, Mr. Kempenich was deported to Theresienstadt and perished in the Minsk ghetto. Also includes the Yom Kippur programs for the synagogue in Trier, Germany, from 1928-1936.

  18. Chester Aaron papers

    The collection consists of seven photographs taken by Chester Aaron while serving in the United States Army depicting the liberation of Dachau concentration camp and two programs for musical performances for the American troops.

  19. Dachau liberation photographs

    Consists of 12 photographs taken after the liberation of the Dachau concentration camp. Includes photographs of the railcars which held victims as well as carts used to transport the bodies of victims for reburial. The photographs are from the collection of Grant Balch, a liberator of Dachau.

  20. Halina Gozdzik Milich photograph collection

    The collection consists of eight photographs depicting Halina Gozdzik Milich and her relatives before World War II in Łódź, Poland, and after liberation.
