Biographical History
Estella d'Ancona-Vieijra, Hetty's mother, was a Dutch Jew who was arrested during World War II and interned in Westerbork transit camp in the Netherlands, Theresienstadt concentration camp in the Czech Republic, Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp in Poland, and finally Lenzing labor camp in Austria where she was liberated in 1945.

United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Collection, Gift of Hetty d'Ancona de Leeuwe
The papers were donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2005 by Hetty D'Anconia de Leeuwe, the daughter of Estella d'Ancona-Vieijra. An accretion of additional material was added to the collection in 2017.
Scope and Content
The papers relate to the experiences of Estella d'Ancona-Vieijra immediately after World War II. Photographs of the d'Ancona family before the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands, birth announcment of Hetty d'Ancona, and post war correspondence.
