Donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2022 by Mark Schmidek.

Scope and Content

Consists of documents, photographs, correspondence, and passport pertaining to Julie Schlamme, Thekla Schlamme Schmidek, and Norbert Schmidek. Included is also documentation of the extended Schlamme and Schmidek families. The collection also includes an oral history interview with Inge Maerowitz.

The papers consist of documents, black-and-white photographs, postcards, correspondence, identity documents, a passport, English translations, and newspaper clippings documenting the experiences of Julie Schlamme, Thekla Schlamme Schmidek, and Norbert Schmidek as they left Germany, moved through Western Europe, and immigrated to the United States in the late 1930s and early 1940s.
