Biographical History
Creation of counterintelligence units of Soviet Ukraine began when in March 1922 the State Political Directorate (hereafter - DPU) under the NKVD of the Ukrainian SSR was established. By decision of the Collegium of the DPU on May 6-8, 1922, a counter-intelligence unit (hereinafter - CRV) was created, which had to deal with the subversion of foreign intelligence, foreign anti-Soviet centers and counter-revolutionary organizations that existed in the country. Under this name, the CRV functioned in 1922-1929, 1935-1941. From 1929 to 1935, this unit was part of a special department. In February 1941, there was established the 2nd (counterintelligence) office, which worked until 1991. The Counter-Intelligence authorities of the UkrSSR from the time of creation and up to the end of the 1930-ies carried out operational actions against the intelligence activities of Britain, France, USA and other countries. During the Second World War, counterintelligence units worked closely with the military counterintelligence, directing their efforts on preventing the intelligence, subversion and terrorist activities of the special services of Germany in the Eastern Front. After the end of World War II, within the context of the Cold War, the counterintelligence units of the Ukrainian SSR carried out operational actions against the intelligence and subversive activities of the US, British, French, and other Western countries special forces.
Archival History
In total, the collection includes 2076 files dated 1920-1990. The first files were received in 1950. All files are of permanent term of storage.
Scope and Content
The following documentary material is related to the history of Jews and the Holocaust:
Materials on the search of the traitors of Motherland, agents of the Nazi intelligence, police and security bodies, as well as other individuals who actively collaborated with Nazi Germany during the Second World War (fond 1, op. 1, pp. 12-28, 108-246, 260-280).
Materials on the search of individuals who served in the unit of Einsatzgruppe D detachment created by the occupants - the so-called "SD Caucasian company" and "SS battalion 32", and actively participated in police operations on the territory of Ukraine, Poland, Czechoslovakia and Hungary; as well as those who served in the security detachment of the Selbstschutz of the SS Warms Commandantur and participated in mass shootings of Soviet activists, communists and persons of Jewish background (fond 1, op. 1, pp. 1687-1688).
Materials of the investigation of the disaster that occurred in Kyiv on March 13, 1961 in the district of Babyn Yar and Kurenivka, as well as measures to prevent negative actions from the population (fond 1, op. 1, file 1418).

Biographical History
Створення органів контррозвідки радянської України розпочалося після утворення у березні 1922 р. Державного політичного управління (далі – ДПУ) при НКВС УРСР. Рішенням Колегії ДПУ від 6-8 травня 1922 р. було створено контррозвідувальний відділ (далі – КРВ), який мав боротися з підривною діяльністю іноземних розвідок, закордонних антирадянських центрів та контрреволюційними організаціями, що існували в середині країни. Під такою назвою КРВ функціонував у 1922–1929 рр., 1935–1941 рр. З 1929 р. до 1935 р. цей підрозділ входив до складу особливого відділу. У лютому 1941 р. в органах державної безпеки було створено 2-е (контррозвідувальне) Управління, яке проіснувало до 1991 р. Контррозвідувальні органи УРСР з часу створення і до кінця 30-х років проводили агентурно-оперативні заходи проти розвідувально-підривної діяльності розвідок Англії, Франції, США та ін. країн. Під час Другої світової війни контррозвідувальні підрозділи тісно взаємодіяли з військовою контррозвідкою, спрямовували свої зусилля на припинення розвідувально-підривної та терористичної діяльності спецслужб Німеччини на Східному фронті. Після закінчення Другої світової війни, в умовах «холодної війни», контррозвідувальні підрозділи УРСР здійснювали агентурно-оперативні заходи проти розвідувально-підривної діяльності спецслужб США, Англії, Франції та інших західних країн, які поряд з нелегальними каналами використовували для цього також легальні можливості.

Загалом у фонді налічується 2076 од. зб. за 1920–1990 рр. Перші справи надійшли до фонду у 1950 р. Всі справи мають постійний термін зберігання.

Матеріали про розшук зрадників Батьківщини, співробітників та агентів нацистських розвідувальних, поліцейських та каральних органів, а також інших осіб, які активно співпрацювали з нацистською Німеччиною у роки Другої світової війни (Ф. 1, оп. 1, спр. 12-28, 108-246, 260-280).
Матеріали про організацію і проведення розшуку осіб, які служили у підрозділах створеного окупантами карального органу «Група-Д» – т.з. «Кавказькій роті СД» і «32 батальоні СС» та приймали активну участь у каральних операціях на території України, Польщі, Чехословаччини та Угорщини; які служили у каральному загоні «Зельбстшутц» Вормської комендатури СС і брали участь у масових розстрілах радянських активістів, комуністів та осіб єврейської національності (Ф. 1, оп. 1, спр. 1687-1688).
Розслідування та застереження надзвичайних подій. Матеріали розслідування катастрофи, яка трапилась у Києві 13 березня 1961 р. в районі Бабиного Яру – Куренівки. Заслуговують на увагу методики розслідування причин трагедії та аналізу матеріалів, які були отримані, а також заходи запобігання негативним діям з боку населення (Ф. 1, оп. 1, спр. 1418).
