Biographical History
According to the 1918 union of Bessarabia with Romania, a network of institutions was set up, with the task of consolidating public order. By the Decree of the Romanian Government of 1918 on the organization of police in each county (județ), the Police Prefectures were opened, as well as the Special Brigades of Security. Police Prefectures were subordinated to the General Directorate of Police and Security in Romania, and the Special Brigades of Security were subordinated to the General Security Inspectorate of Bessarabia. In 1929 the Police Prefectures and Special Brigades were reorganized into Police Headquarters, headed by a Quaestor and a Deputy Secretary. Police stations were under the supervision of the Basarabia Regional Police Inspectorate
Scope and Content
Reports of police agents about the activities of individuals, including those of Jewish origin, suspected of communist activities; correspondence with the Bessarabian police inspectorate on the search for persons suspected of anti-Romanian activities; сorrespondence with the Chisinau brigade of Siguranta about people illegally crossing the border from the USSR to Romania; personal files of small business owners; files on of issuing permission to open small businesses; small business closure cases; issuance of certificates of trustworthiness, of biographical nature, and other to residents of the town of Tighina; correspondence with the Tighina recruiting station on the census of persons to be recruited to the Romanian army; accounting books of persons arriving at hotels in Tighina
