History

Archive of the Slovak National Museum is a specialized public archive in Slovakia. In represents the Slovak National Museum in terms of archival activities and in terms of registers´ administration. It´s main mission is to provide the SNM with the complex archival administration and services. It also provides access to the archival fonds and makes them available for scientific as well as administrative purposes.

Opening Times

Services for the public: Monday - Friday: 9.00 - 15.00 h Study visits must be announced in advance.

Conditions of Access

Researchers are required to inform the archive about their visit ahead. See the web-site of the repository.

Fragmentary personal fonds of prof. Jelínek contains numerous copies of his correspondence from the years 1988 – 1998. Collection contains documents of the Jews who were deported from Slovakia to the concentration camps in Auschwitz, Terezín, Mauthausen, Kamionka and Petržalka in the years 1942 – 1945. Beside some original documents, the collection is created by the copies of correspondence of the persecuted Jews. Collection consists of the documentation of the Holocaust memorials in Slovakia. It contains the list the list of the Jewish victims from the city of Prešov which was created for the planned memorial, material on the project Holocaust memorial tables which was realized in Poprad, Komárno, Nové Zámky, Košice, Bardejov, Liptovský Mikuláš and Nitra on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of deportations of Jews from Slovakia in 1942.

Collection is created by 9 posters pertaining the anti-Semitic propaganda in 1940s which was published and intentionally spread by the Propaganda Office (1938 - 1945) in Slovakia. Posters refer to the anti-Semitic policy and Jewish persecution during the Slovak State (1939 – 1945). Most of these posters were printed by Grafia or Andrej in Bratislava. Every unit contains basic information such as date and place of printing.
