History

The RKD (Netherlands Institute for Art History) opened its doors in The Hague in 1932. From the end of 1936 to 1982, the RKD was housed in the monumental building on the corner of Korte Vijverberg and Toernooiveld. The various departments, which had become dispersed over the years, were reunited and accommodated in the KB complex from 1982.
