History

The Hengelo Municipal Archives takes care of all government and private archives kept in the municipal archive repository (see also archives overview). The archive repository contains approximately one hundred individual archives of both municipal bodies and private entities from various social backgrounds. The municipal archive is part of the Department of Documentary Information (DIV) and is located in the town hall. Next to the archive depot, a study room has been set up for visitors.

In het voorjaar van 1940 bestond het politiekorps uit een commissaris, hoofdinspecteur, inspecteur, 2 adjunct-inspecteurs, 6 hoofdagenten en 42 agenten van politie. Eind 1940 waren er 82 agenten van politie aanwezig. Het totale politiekorps telt 95 leden waaronder een aantal administratieve krachten. Ook treden rigoureuze veranderingen in het takenpakket op en de juridische status verandert doordat de Duitse bezetter het gezag uitoefent.
