The Wolfenbüttel Branch of the Lower Saxon State Archive is responsible for the administrative and governmental records within the geographic region of Brunswick, Salzgitter, the districts of Goslar (since 1941), Helmstedt (until 1945), Holzminden (until 1941) and Wolfenbüttel. Through district reforms in 1978 and the subsequent inclusion the districts Gifhorn, Peine, Northeim, Göttingen, Osterode and the city of Wolfsburg, the Archives experienced significant growth.
Archival and Other Holdings
The Wolfenbüttel Branch of the Lower Saxon State Archive preserves administrative and governmental documents of regions within Lower Saxony. Search within the AIDA database online indicates the presence of relevant archival material in the Archives, for example, records on and lists of NSDAP members from Brunswick. Additionally there is a collection within the Staatsarchiv Wolfenbüttel "Einrichtungen der NSDAP," which contains records of the party from this region.
