Mandates/Sources of Authority

Since 1 August 2002, the State District Archive of Sokolov in Jindřichovice has been an internal organizational unit of the State Regional Archives in Pilsen and, since 1 January 2003, its territorial jurisdiction has been defined by the districts of Kraslice and Sokolov, covering the territory of the Sokolov District.

Archival and Other Holdings

The State District Archive Sokolov primarily hold:

political administration fonds, especially district political administration after 1850 (district authorities, particularly Kraslice district offices, district councils, etc., e.g. Landrat Kraslice)
financial administration fonds, especially district financial administration after 1850 (e.g. tax and customs offices)
municipal self-government fonds (archives of towns, e.g. AM Horní Slavkov, Kraslice, Loket, Sokolov , and municipalities) and special-interest fonds (e.g. guilds, trade associations, professional organizations)
fonds of national committees (district, mainly ONV Kraslice, Loket and Sokolov , municipal and local national committees) and their facilities (e.g. district commission of folk control, folk control committees, fire rescue corps, premises of national committees)
judicial administration fonds (district courts, official courts, district prosecution offices, public and private notaries, etc.)
school and school administration fonds (various types of schools, district, district and local school councils)
fonds of financial institutions
fonds of health facilities (hospitals, children's homes, educational institutions, etc.)

The fonds includes incomplete archival materials of the political administration of the district of Kraslice from the period of the German occupation, mainly a construction agenda and files relating to businesses, control of the self-government, education and social care. Sources to the history of Jews can be found mainly in documents relating to abolishing businesses in 1938-1939 (inv. No. 36) and the exclusion from citizenship from 1938-1945 (inv. No. 63). There are also preserved materials from the 1939 census of persons and businesses.
