  1. Neufeld and Milgrom family papers

    Documents and photographs relating to Selig Neufeld and Mania Milgrom Neufeld (donor's parents) who were in the Buczacz ghetto and later hid in Buczacz but were discovered. Both Selig and Mania were imprisoned in concentration camps, and after liberation they went to Italy, where their son Leon was born in 1946 and their daughter Henia Helene was born in 1949. Mr. and Mrs. Neufeld immigrated to Baltimore, MD in 1950.

    The collection consists of correspondence, documents, postcards, photographs, and a book related to the experiences of Otto and Elfriede Rosenwald, and their daughter, Helene, who emigrated from Nazi Germany in 1936, as well as papers relating to members of their extended family.

    Atrocity, Nuremberg, Germany, April 29, 1945. Seq: Reburial of murdered Russian Jews inside of town. MSs, CUs, coffins bearing bodies of victims. German civilians carry empty coffins to forest area where bodies are placed in coffins. Open coffins are carried into town for reburial. CUs, a few of the women weeping. Head-on shot, group of freed slave laborers preceded the line of civilians carrying the bodies. Bodies are carried to the cemetery.

  7. Singer family collection

    The collection consists of a brick from the wall around the synagogue in Celldömölk, Hungary which was bombed down by the Germans and a curtain embroidered by Ilona Waldhauser which she took to the ghetto in Csorna and was taken from her there by locals. Ilona's daughter saw it in a window in Csorna after the war and it was returned to her.

Dostler testifies through his interpreter about checking higher command to determing if these American soldiers came under the Fuehrerbefehl order. In learning that they did, and that he was ordered to have the men shot, he instructed his chief of staff to carry out the order.

    16mm film "This is America" Part of a series produced by Frederic Ullman Jr. in the 1940s. This episode, "New Americans," which dates from around the late 1940s, focuses on a German immigrant (or refugee) and his quest to become a United States citizen. Depicted are his arrival in the city via Ellis Island, meetings with immigration officials, and attempts to find housing and a job. He is led to the National Refugee Service where he finds friendly assistance. He perseveres and is eventually sworn in as a United States citizen.
