Biographical History

Marion Warner first came to the United States in 1926 and returned to Europe later on. She had a sister, Berthe Schloss, living in Holland. Marion met and married Alfred Wertheimer in Amsterdam in 1937. The couple sailed to the United States in 1938. They lived with Marion’s brother, Max Warner, at 255 West 98th Street in New York from 1939 to 1942. They later moved to Elmhurst.

Alfred Wertheimer met and married Marion Warner in Amsterdam in 1937. The couple sailed to the United States in 1938. They lived with Marion’s brother, Max Warner, at 255 West 98th Street in New York from 1939 to 1942. They later moved to Elmhurst. Alfred became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1944. Alfred's parents, Henriette and Julius Wertheimer, had a department store in Magdeburg, Germany and four children, Erich, Alfred, Edgar and Edith. The store was expropriated. Erich was deported and died around the end of the war. Alfred left Germany in 1936 and moved to Amsterdam. Edgar immigrated to the United States circa 1937-1938. Edith died in 1925 of natural causes.
