  1. Holocaust Memorial Committee fonds

    Fonds is comprised of administrative and other records generated as a result of the activities of the Holocaust Memorial Committee of the VHCS. The Holocaust Memorial Committee managed the building of a Holocaust memorial monument and an accompanying commemorative book project. The VHCS initiated and funded the committee’s work; its board members at the time of the memorial unveiling were Robert Krell, Leon Kahn, Dave Shafran, Freda Kaplan, Robbie Waisman, Leon Dales, Mariette Doduck, David Ehrlich, Lili Folk, Rome Fox, Paul Heller and Jack Kowarsky.   2. Jack Gardner fonds

    Fonds consists of records generated as a result of Jack Gardner’s role in the Red Army, his medical leave, his residency in the Foehrenwald displaced persons camp, and his advocacy work in restoring Jewish cemeteries and mass graves in Sambir, L’viv Oblast, Ukraine. Records include correspondence, identification, permits, licenses, certificates, legal documents and clippings.

  3. Canadian Jewish Congress organizational records

    The collection consists of several classes of material, as described in the series descriptions below. While the CJC materials begin in 1919, Series Z, the documentation collection, contains material that precedes this date, a few items going back even as far as the earliest settlement of Jews in Canada in the late 18th century.

  8. Stanley Winfield fonds

    Fonds consists of photographs, publications, reports and correspondence created or collected by Stanley Winfield while he was a sergeant with the Royal Canadian Air Force, related to the time he spent at the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp shortly after its liberation.   9. GIBEROVITCH, Myra : Contributions of Montreal Holocaust Survivor Organizations to Jewish Communal Life

    The sound portion of the collection consists of 49 audio tapes, 1987-1990. There are transcripts of many of the interviews. The other textual records consist of background materials for her M.A. thesis, "The Contribution of Montreal Survivor Organizations to Jewish Communal Life" (McGill School of Social Work, 1988), with information on key participants from Canada's large community of Holocaust survivors. The collection includes issues of The Voice of Survivors (magazine), 1963, 1966 and Voice of Radom (magazine), 1980-1987.

  10. Mayer Levit fonds

    The records in this fonds pertain to the experience of Mayer Levit after his liberation from the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. These include transit and identification documents, a prayer book, embroidered towel, ration card and official documents attesting to his status as prisoner and his subsequent application for compensation.
