    The publication is a compilation of articles on the propaganda and threats emanating from Nazi Germany. Frank J. Hogan, President of the American Bar Association provides an overview of the stance of the Catholic church towards Nazi ideology and dismisses the prejudice that Jews financed the Russian revolution and are overrepresented in the communist party.     The publication is an account of a German refugee describing the tragedy that has beset Germany in 1933. The fate of one city among 98 in Germany with a population of 50,000 or more is described. The harassment, abuse of its citizens and destruction or confiscation of property of social democrats and their facilities (printing shops, community houses, welfare institutions, libraries, and kindergartens) is described in harrowing details.

    The publication focuses on the hardships in the life of Zensl Mühsam. She was the wife of Erich Mühsam who had been murdered by the Nazis in 1934. Zensl first fled to Czechoslovakia and then to Russia, where she was arrested and sent to a camp in Siberia. Many of her letters to the author describing the abuse and torture of her husband and her desperation are reprinted. After her arrest she disappeared, and the author tried for many years to learn her fate. In 1949 he still searches for any sign of life of Zensl.

    The file contains a report of 1937 about the position of Jews in Yugoslavia written in German. The Jewish Central information Office published every month a new report, regarding the situation of Jews in Germany or Europe. In 1928 Alfred Wiener was instrumental in creating the Büro Wilhelmstrasse of the CV, which documented Nazi activities and issued anti-Nazi materials until 1933 when Hitler came to power.     1. The Ludwig Dische papers : Bukovina’s Jewish history

    The file includes information about the acquisition of the Bukovina, quotes from the essay of Georg Drozdowski's "Zwischen den Herzogtümern" and Eduard Fischer's "Krieg ohne Heer : meine Verteidigung der Bukowina gegen die Russen". The "Heimatkunde Bukovina" mentions that Israelites are counted as German by authorities because of their mother tongue. There are also handwritten notes about the book "Geschichte von Czernowitz" by Raimund Friedrich Kaindl. Some of the handwritten notes are hard to read.

    1. Research files: research conducted by the JCIO and the Wiener Library

    The file contains information on kidnappings in foreign countries committed by Nazis. Several kidnappings are mentioned in the documents and usually involve political refugees such as communists. After the abduction most of the persons were incarcerated in Germany. Friedrich Kuhlmann however, was abducted in Copenhagen but managed to escape while still being in Denmark.
