    Consists of 20 copyprints from the collection of Private First Class Henry M. Heinrichs documenting his experiences as an American soldier, mainly as an ambulance driver, during World War II, particularly his experiences witnessing the Dachau concentration camp. Includes portraits, Heinrichs posing with his ambulance, piles of corpses at Dachau, the corpse of a guard dog, and liberated prisoners riding in a military jeep with a banner thanking the Allies.

  2. Dachau liberation photographs and narrative "Remembering the Holocaust"

    Consists of enlarged prints, photographs, and photographic negatives of images taken after the liberation of the Dachau concentration camp, including a print showing the headline of the 45th Division News when the war ended, prints of images of survivors, perpetrators being arrested, and of the Dachau death train. Also includes one narrative entitled "Remembering the Holocaust" by Marilyn Spencer, describing the experiences of a Jewish intelligence officer (unnamed in the text, but identified as Chester Kaplan) who participated in the liberation of Dachau.

Daniel Jacobson, of Baltimore, Maryland, while serving with the US Army's 179th Infantry, 45th Division in Munich, Germany, to his wife Julia Jacobson, 6 May 1945. The letter written on Hitler's personal stationery, describes the irony of being Jewish and using Hitler's stationery, and how he acquired it during a visit with other American soldiers to the ruins of Hitler's home in Berchtesgaden.   4. Michael Kay collection

    Consists of postwar papers and photographs related to the Holocaust experiences of Michael Kay, originally of Vilna (Vilnius), Lithuania. In 1933, Michael moved to Paris, then relocated to Bourbon-L'Archambault, France, and, in 1942, fled across the Spanish border and joined the British Army, participating in the liberation of Bergen-Belsen.     Consists of two essays (2 pages and 5 pages) written by Irvin Boring, a scout with the 26th Infantry Division, describing his experiences discovering and liberating a small concentration camp for women in the area of Wiesbaden-Sonnenberg, Germany, and his experiences discovering the site of a mass grave, possibly the victims who could not continue during a death march.

  14. Engraved silver cup given to Erwin Rösener by Heinrich Himmler

    Silver cup engraved with the names of Erwin Rösener and Heinrich Himmler and SS bolts, manufactured by the A. Frisch firm in Oslo, Norway. Rösener joined the SA in 1926, and was accepted into the SS in 1930. He quickly advanced through the ranks, and was promoted nine times between 1930 and 1944. Rösener attained the rank of Gruppenführer (Major General) on November 9, 1941, and his final rank of Obergruppenführer (Lieutenant General) on August 1, 1944.   18. Anonymous diaries from Hungarian woman

    The collection includes three diaries written between 1942 and 1945 by an unidentified Jewish woman, originally from Brno, Czechoslovakia, but living in Budapest and Subotica. She was arrested by the Hungarian and German occupation forces in Serbia, where she sought refuge, and was sent to a succession of concentration camps and forced labor sites between the summer of 1944 and the spring of 1945.
