  1. Lantzer family photograph collection

    Collection of photographs (15) depicting Yochevet Lantzer (Jochewet Doba Lanzer, b. October 2, 1947) as a child, along with her parents, in the Ulm displaced persons camp in Germany, and one picture of them in Israel (1950). Her parents, Alta Alal Bergrefreund Lanzer (b. December 12, 1923 in Bilgoraj Lubelski, Poland) and Szyjie Lanzer (b. April 15, 1914 in Tomaszow Lubelski, Poland) survived the Holocaust in the USSR. The Lanzer family immigrated to Israel on March 21, 1949.

  3. "The Nursing Log of our Son, 1942-1946"

    Consists of one notebook entitled "The Nursing Log of our Son, 1942-1946-[1948]", by Mrs. Imre Sugár. Mr. and Mrs. Imre Sugár's son, Peter, was born on July 26, 1942, while his father was serving in a Hungarian labor battalion on the Eastern front, where he would perish in 1943. Mrs. Sugár kept this journal hoping for the return of her husband, and planned to give him a full account of the first months of Peter's life. The journal contains data about the difficulties the small family was facing during the Holocaust, the siege of Budapest, and the aftermath of the war.

  4. Robert Pettit collection

    Consists of 27 photographs taken by Robert Pettit, a member of the United States Army, after the liberation of the Buchenwald concentration camp. Includes photographs of liberated prisoners, of captured German soldiers, of Mr. Pettit in the camp, and of camp architecture. Also includes photographs taken during the Battle of the Bulge and of destruction in Germany. The photographs are described by Mr. Pettit.

  9. Anti-Semitic flier, "Institut des Questions Juives"

    Anti-Semitic flier related to the "Institut des Questions Juives." One side resembles a ration ticket and the other, printed in red ink, contains further information about the "Institut d'Etudes des Questions juives" and also about an exposition being held at the Palais Berlitz, Paris, called "Le Juif et la France."

  10. Ruth Kantor collection

    The Ruth Kantor collection consists of pre-war photographs of family members of Joseph and Ruth Kantor in Poland, as well as a photograph of the Kantors, circa 1980s-1990s. The collection also includes two postcards sent from the Birkenau concentration camp, 1943. One postcard appears to be addressed from Ruth’s mother to Ruth Kantor.

  11. Eugen Heydt papers

    Contains correspondence, statements of payments from the German office of retirement and aid service payments to a Charlotte Heyd, living in Miami, Florida for the year 1978, and to Eugen Heydt and his child Gisela Heydt who applied for naturalization in 1951. The Heydts left Germany in 1938, to go to Johannesburg in South Africa.

    Testimony, circa 60 pages, typescript, titled "From the Abyss to Freedom: The Story of a Survivor of the Death Camps, 1939-1945," by Moshe Goldschmidt, composed in Hebrew. Describes pre-war life in Bialystok, invasion and occupation by Soviets, then Germans; life in Bialystok ghetto, then a succession of camps (Belzec, Auschwitz, Mauthausen, Gusen). Accompanying account of Miriam Goldschmidt (95 pages, handwritten, in notebook) is also in Hebrew.     Consists of photographs and photographic negatives taken in Germany, circa 1945. Includes photographs of graves of German and Allied soldiers, aerial images, photographs taken after the liberation of Dachau, and photographs of military destruction. Includes an original envelope marked "Germany 1942" (though these photographs were likely taken in 1945). The photographs were sent to Clotilde Nicoli.

    Consists of arrest reports as well as reports on other Gestapo activities such as raids and persons killed while trying to escape. The reasons for the arrests are included in the reports and include printing illegal material, spreading atrocity reports, suspicion of espionage, illegal possession of weapons, membership/leadership in illegal organizations, and being a Communist, foreigner, or Jew. Also included are reorganization plans for the Sipo Hauptamt in January 1938 and the whole Reichsministrium in July 1941.

    The archive contains material for the so-called exchangeable property, which belonged to Moslems who left the area after the Exchange of the Population between Greece and Turkey (1923), the settlement of Christians and Jews in these properties and the sale of them at auctions. It's very useful source for the relations among Christians and Jews in the interwar period.
