    Minutes of sessions of the Municipal Government of Rawa Mazowiecka, Poland, from the period immediately following World War II. Includes lists of war damages, statistics related to the town from 1945, matters related to synagogue and Jewish graveyards, matters of exhumation of bodies, lists of war graves, various certificates related to the estates, a list and administration of abandoned property in the area of Rawa Mazowiecka, and issues related to the provision of help to the war victims.

  5. Leslie Nichols collection

    Consists of letters, dated August-September 1935, related to the efforts of Leslie Nichols of Cleveland, OH, to assist in the emigration of Dr. Walter Jaffe (who was half Jewish) and his wife, Sylvia Lavalle (who was not Jewish), of Berlin, Germany. Includes instructions on how to proceed, blank visa paperwork, a letter from Leslie Nichols to Judge Maurice Bernon of Cleveland asking for his assistance; and a letter from Leslie Nichols to Sylvia Lavalle informing her of his efforts on her behalf. The couple eventually survived the war in Paris.

  6. Nina Negrin memoir

    Consists of a photocopy of handwritten testimony written by Nina Naoum Negrin, originally of Volos, Greece. In the testimony, she describes the military battles between Italy and Greece in 1940-1941 and the Italian and German occupations of Greece. She describes hearing of the deportation of the Jews living in Thessaloniki and her family's decision to take on false, Christian, identities. She also describes her sister's arrest by the EASAD Greek terrorist organization, from which she was able to escape. Also includes an English language summary and translation completed by Ninetta Feldman.

  7. Crematorium tag from Dachau concentration camp acquired by a US soldier

    Crematorium tag from Dachau concentration camp in Germany. The tag was picked up by an American soldier on a tour of the camp in the spring of 1945, after the camp’s liberation. A numbered tag was placed with each corpse to be able to identify the ashes after cremation. The numbers on the tags did not correspond to prisoner numbers. Produced in large quantities, not all the tags were used. Dachau was the first concentration camp established by the Nazi government in 1933, originally for political prisoners.     Collection of glass-based negatives taken in Switzerland in 1934 of Arieh (donor), his sister, and mother when they escaped and sought refuge; after six months they returned to Berlin. Contains a Reisepass (numbered 1285) issued to Rosa Halbreich Lewinnek.

Taylor discusses the different departments of the Wehrmacht and then reviews the careers of defendants Handloser and Oskar Schroeder. In reading the indictment, Taylor speaks of the so-called "anthropological experiments." HS of the Tribunal: Judges Sebring, Beals, Crawford, and Swearingen. General Taylor talks of the "high and low pressure" experiments conducted at Dachau.

    Documents, photographs, artifacts illustrating the experiences of Valeria Gemeiner Lowi Steiner who was in hiding in Slovakia with her husband Alexander and children Vierka and Pavel who were killed in the forest in Zwollen, Slovakia. Documents also illustrate Josef who fled and returned to Slovakia and married Valeria in 1947 in Slovakia.
