  3. J. Nestel letter

    The letter was written to Col. Wooten from J. Nestel in Salzburg, Austria, requesting that Capt. D'Jernes remain as commander in the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration (UNRRA) displaced persons camp "Beth Bialik" (Jewish Transit Camp #2). Attached are 51 sheets containing 1,417 signatures from camp residents.

  4. Marcel Verzeano papers

    The papers consist of a certificate issued by Varian Fry from the Emergency Rescue Committee that attests to the service of Marcel Verzeano and a certificate issued by the Unitarian Service Committee that attests to service of Marcel Verzeano.

  5. Stefan Zweig suicide letter

    This letter contains the text of the suicide declaration of the novelist Stefan Zweig, who took his life while in exile in Petrópolis, Brazil, in February 1942. The statement at the end of the first paragraph reads as follows:.".my spiritual homeland Europe, self-destructed." This version is likely a hand-written copy, from an unknown source. The original version of this letter is owned by the National Library of Israel.

  6. Gilbert and Beatrice Paul papers

    The papers consist of certificates, identification cards, and correspondence relating to Gilbert and Beatrice Paul and their experience during and after the Holocaust.

  7. Nahum Joslyn photograph collection

    The collection consists of 22 photographs depicting the liberation of Landsberg concentration camp and one photograph album.

  8. Photograph of corpses at a concentration camp

    The photograph was taken at the liberation of a concentration camp, possibly Ohrdruf or Buchenwald, and depicts a large group of corpses stacked against the wall of a brick building.

    The papers consist of photographs, two identification cards, and a letter relating to the Safan family before the Holocaust in Salonika (Thessalonikē), Greece, and during the Holocaust in France.

  12. Edward and Shara Kelley papers

    The papers consist of 15 photographs taken by Ernest Henry (donor's father) of the liberation of Buchenwald concentration camp and of American military life in Europe during World War II and a seven-page letter written by an American soldier in the 257th Engineer Combat Battalion describing his experiences from November 1944 to June 1945, including his time spent at Dachau concentration camp after its liberation.

  13. Israel Elefant papers

    The papers consist of two postcards sent to Israel Elefant in the ghetto in Łódź, Poland, from a family member, Ch. Zylberberg, in Stopnica, Poland.

  14. Robert Black photograph collection

    The collection consists of five photographs taken at the liberation of Dachau concentration camp and depicting freed prisoners, corpses, and a pile of clothing taken from dead prisoners.

  15. Isabel Banas photograph collection

    The collection consists of an envelope and fifteen photographs taken during the liberation of Dachau concentration camp.

  16. Theresienstadt papers

    The papers consist of documents, correspondence, and newsletters produced in Theresienstadt (Terezín), Czechoslovakia, after World War II.

  17. Hilde and Ruth Simon papers

    The papers consist of two letters sent by sisters Hilde and Ruth Simon, who had traveled from Germany to Harrogate, England on a Kindertransport in 1939, to the Mizrachi family in the United States. The Mizrachi family sponsored the sisters to immigrate to the United States in 1944. The first letter, dated 1 October 1939, thanks the Mizrachis for agreeing to sponsor them. The second letter, dated 10 April 1943, gives an update on the sisters' lives in England and expreses their continued wish to immigrate to the United States when it is possible.
