Narration of the misery of war, accompanied by scenes of people pushing their belongings in the street, soldiers scrambling, burned out buildings, and blindfolded corpses.     The collection consists of eight photographs of Chris and Miles Lerman, their friends, and their family, during their time in the Berlin Schlachtensee displaced persons camp in Germany after liberation and their voyage to the United States on board the "Marine Perch."   5. A letter in honor of deceased American GI who experienced atrocities at Buchenwald

    Contains a typescript copy of a letter in the form of a memoir written by Franklin P. Shaw in honor of William Malsh's contribution to the liberation of Buchenwald. Shaw explains that Lieutenant William R. Malsh commanded a Military Intelligence Interrogation team that was ordered to Buchenwald on April 12, 1945. On General Patton’s orders, Malsh instructed the mayor of Weimar to arrange for one thousand Weimar citizens to visit the liberated Buchenwald concentration camp, and Shaw describes the reactions of the German visitors to the scenes at Buchenwald.

  7. Scrapbooks of German news clippings

    Contains four volumes of scrapbooks compiled by Siegfried Wenzel, as a child or adolescent while living in Germany, between 1939 and 1943, consisting of clippings from German newspapers of the era, reporting on wartime events. Consisting of four separate numbered volumes, titled "Kriegstagesbuch," with handwritten annotations added by Wenzel from that time, the volumes report on German military advances from the invasion of Poland in September 1939 through the battle of Stalingrad in early 1943.

    Consists of articles relating to Rabbi Aladar Deutsch, the last chief rabbi of Prague, Czechoslovakia, prior to the Holocaust, and the Jewish community of Prague. Other documents in the collection include the birth certificate of Aladar Deutsch and a letter written by Deutsch to his daughter informing her of the lift of the quarantine in the Theresienstadt concentration camp. Each document is accompanied by a summary description written in English by William Dickman.
