  1. Izak Fridman biography

    The Izak Fridman biography is an internet printout, in Hebrew, about Izak Fridman, originally of Włodawa, Poland. Fridman was born in 1925 and served as a partisan during the Holocaust. He died in 1948 during the Israeli War of Independence. The biography includes wartime photographs and copies of postcards.

  2. Izak Lewkowicz papers

    The papers consist of eight photographs of Izak Lewkowicz and others (some wearing Star of David armbands or badges), two identification cards issued to Izak Lewkowicz in the ghetto in Łódź, Poland, and a "D.P. Index Card" issued by the Allied Expeditionary Force to Izak Lewkowicz.

  3. Izak Rosenblat collection

    The Izak Rozenblat papers contain photographs and documents relating to Izak “Izy” Rosenblat, a Polish tailor who lived in the Radom ghetto and whose wife and child were deported to Treblinka in 1942. Izy continued to work forced labor for the Germans until his liberation in 1945. Included in the collection are photographs, identification papers, and documents related to restitution from the German government.

    The collection consists of artifacts, documents, and photographs relating to the experiences of Izak Rozenwasser and his family before and during the Holocaust in Poland.

  5. Izak Sznaper photograph collection

    The collection consists of a photograph of the Izak Sznaper’s parents Abraham and Basia (née Bleiweiss) Sznaper and four of their 8 children; a photograph of Basia Sznaper and Izak’s grandmother, aunt, and uncle; a photograph of Izak’s cousins Frieda and Moriz Press; and a photograph of the Izak’s sister, Salka, and brother Mojsze. All of the photographs were taken near Wojnilów, Poland (Voynyliv, Ukraine).

  6. Izaks Berels papers

    Contains one black and white photograph and letter written from Riga.

  7. Izba Zdrowia w Generalnym Gubernatorstwie Gesundheitskammer in Generalgouvernement (Sygn.1578)

    Contains medical personnel lists, questionnaires of physicians, dentists, nurses and other medical personnel in General Government, dating from 1939-1945.

  8. Izba Zdrowia w Warszawie Gesundheitskammer Warschau (Sygn.497)

    Selected materials from the records of the Gesundheitskammer, an organization established by the German occupation authorities to govern the administration of health services in occupied Poland. The records include hundreds of personal files: questionnaires of Jewish health professionals "Questionnaire for the first submission of medical professions" ("Fragebogen erstmaligen zur Meldung der Heilberufe"). The questionnaires contain personal details, information about family, education, work history, and a photograph.

  9. Izy Freudenreich collection

    The collection consists of a cigarette holder and a necklace with a commemorative pendant and mezuzah relating to the experiences of Izy Freudenreich after his release from Kaufering VII slave labor camp in Landsberg, Germany, when he lived in Landsberg displaced persons camp in Germany.

  10. The Izyaslavl ghetto in 1941

    Contains a photocopy of Toiba Shulimovna Shtern's memoir describing life in Izyaslavl, Ukraine following the German invasion in May 1941; her escape with her mother shortly thereafter to Moscow, Russia; and her 5-day visit to Izyaslavl in 1979 during which she went to see the area of the former Yzyaslavl ghetto and several sites of mass shootings of Jews, and spoke with former neighbors and friends who told her about the liquidation of the Izyaslavl ghetto in the fall of1941.

  11. J Malan Heslop papers

    The papers consist of two binders holding photographs, newspaper clippings, a copyprint of a cartoon, a pamphlet, "Betrifft Widerstand," and an unpublished memoir by J Malan Heslop, who was a photographer with the 167th Signal Corps Unit that documented the experiences of the United States Army in Europe during World War II culminating with the liberation of Ebensee and Mauthausen concentration camps.

  12. J. Benjamin Brumberg collection

    Contains publications donated by J. Benjamin Brumberg. Some of these materials may be combined into a single collection in the future.

  13. J. George Mitnick collection

    The collection consists of artifacts, documents, and photographs relating to the experience of J. George Mitnick before and during his tour of duty as a Captain in the US Army, 65th Infantry Division, in Europe where his unit liberated Ohrdruf concentration camp in Germany and assisted in the liberation of Mauthausen concentration camp in Austria and after the war in the United States.

  14. J. Herbert Nagler papers

    The J. Herbert Nagler papers consist primarily of letters Nagler wrote to his parents in Philadelphia while he was studying medicine in Berlin, Germany and in Basel and Fribourg, Switzerland. His letters include his impressions of the last years of the Weimar Republic, the Nazi party and Hitler’s assumption of power, the situation of Jews in Germany, and the April 1, 1933 anti-Jewish boycott. The collection also includes an electronic typescript of Nagler’s letters and a digital image of Nagler.

  15. J. Nestel letter

    The letter was written to Col. Wooten from J. Nestel in Salzburg, Austria, requesting that Capt. D'Jernes remain as commander in the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration (UNRRA) displaced persons camp "Beth Bialik" (Jewish Transit Camp #2). Attached are 51 sheets containing 1,417 signatures from camp residents.

  16. J. Robert Cox photograph collection

    Contains photographs taken by J. Robert Cox, MD (donor's father), who served with the 132nd Evacuation Hospital, taken shortly after his arrival at the Dachau concentration camp on May 2, 1945, a few days after liberation; inscriptions by Dr. Cox written on verso. Also includes U.S. Army Signal Corps images documenting the atrocities in the Dachau concentration camp immediately following liberation

  17. J. Robert Jarvis collection

    Contains black-and-white photographs of atrocity scenes from Ohrdruf, Buchenwald, a mass burial site for Jews in Germany, an alleged Jewish victim being taunted by what apprear to be Waffen SS troops, etc.

  18. J. Zendman envelope

    The envelope is addressed to Mr. J. Zendman in N.Y. and stamped four times with the German National seal. It was sent from Geneva, Switzerland, to N.Y.

  19. J.D. Neighbors photograph collection

    Contains 49 photographs of the Dachau concentration camp in Germany taken immediately following the camp's liberation on April 29, 1945 by American forces. Includes images of American troops in action in Germany and Austria, moving through bombed and destroyed communities and bridges, downed airplanes, and tanks. Also includes a photograph of Bob Hope and Frances Langford and some Nazi propaganda photos.

  20. J.S. ("Jim") Willis photograph album

    Contains a photograph album owned by U.S. military serviceman J.S. ("Jim") Willis, possibly captioned by his wife Sally A. Willis. Includes wartime photographs of England, immediate postwar photographs of Bergen Belsen, Buchenwald, Dachau and Gardelegen, and postwar military activities.
