  3. Czech prison images, 1946

    MCU of guillotine in an empty room. It casts a rather ominous shadow on the white tile wall behind it. Frame left there is a hose attached to the wall. A man in uniform (prison guard) enters the frame and demonstrates the operation of the guillotine. He demonstrates again, this time we see only the shadow of his demonstration and not the machine or the man. This scene was shot in the Pancraz prison in Prague postwar.

    A title on the screen states that this film is about the construction of a lecture room or hospital ward [Saal] at the Kaufbeuren Institution during 1936/1937.     Collection consists of five photographs of groups of young adults, described by David Sandlerowicz as taken in Cyprus 1947, and two identification cards. One card is issued by the Jewish Agency for Palestine to "Mendel Wachs" and the identity of the owner of the other card is unknown.
