    Contains a letter written by Sergeant Martin M. West of the U.S. Army's 4th Armored Division, to his family in the United States, dated June 11, 1945.     Consists of various reports, statistical information, records related to organization and administration emigration and repatriation, finance and transportation. It also includes correspondence with shipping companies.The bulk of this collection relates to the administration of emigration and is arranged in alphabetical order (Ukrainian) according to designated countries of emigration, e.g. Australia, Austria, etc.

  3. Testimonies and transcripts of World War II Jewish veterans

    Contains transcripts of interviews and articles regarding Jewish World War II veterans provided by the staff of the Judaica Institute in Kiev. Although the documents are primarily transcribed interviews of the veterans, there are some first and third person biographical accounts. In addition to extensive detail about their military service during the war, there is some information about daily life, religious activities, family life and educational attainment before and after the war.

    This collection contains selected records of the commune Rudnik Wielki, related to population control of its inhabitant. Included are registration books of the permanent inhabitants of the villages: Cynków, Gniazdów, Rudnik Mały and Siedlce, and the commune Rudnik Wielki, 1923-1930. Contains also many other name indexes, registration books, lists of army recruits and other books of population control. Additionally there is also an identification document with a photo of Chana Sara Grancajger (alias Sommerstein) issued by German authorities on Dec. 15, 1941.

    The collection contains correspondence of the Jewish Youth Organization " Hanoar Hazioni” in Warsaw with the Zionist organizations in Poland and worldwide. Records relate to the activities of the branches of the organization throughout Eastern Galicia (arranged alphabetically by locality, Russian alphabet). Contains financial, membership records, including various lists of members, representatives, questionnaires, and lists of young Jews making "aliyah" to Palestine.

    Contains information about the experiences of Fred Angress's family during resettlement in Amsterdam and their life in hiding during the German occupation of the Netherlands. The testimony draws from Angress' personal diary and other published sources, all of which are listed in a short bibliography. The testimony is dedicated to Nelly Gispen, a close friend of the author during the Holocaust era.

    Consists of original letters (accompanied by English translations) concerning Betty Falk Katz and the home for blind persons in Theresienstadt (Terezin). The letters describe the conditions for Jews in Berlin, Germany, during the Holocaust, the deportation of Katz and patients of the Institute for Jewish Blinds to Terezin, and the death of Katz in Terezin. Also included are photographs of Katz's grave in Theresienstadt and a sketch of Katz completed by her son, Lothar Katz.

  16. German siege of Warsaw, Poland 1939

    EXT, VS night time scenes of the Jewish quarter of Warsaw on fire. This event occurred on September 16, 1939 during Rosh Hashanah. The Germans deliberately chose this day to set the Jewish quarter on fire, burning and destroying more than 20 full city blocks. Camera pans, but it is difficult to make out the shadows, at 01:16:45:14 there is a more vivid shot of the flames, illuminating a street lamp.

    Consists of copies of several articles published circa 1983 concerning the liberation of Landsberg, Hurlach, and other camps in the area of Dachau concentration camp. The articles describe the conditions in Landsberg and other Dachau sub-camps at the time of liberation, lists statistics for Jews killed in the Dachau camps, and quotes the eyewitness accounts of American liberators present at the Landsberg liberation.

    Video testimony of Anne G., who was born in a small town in Germany in 1910, moved to Ludwigshafen am Rhein, and then to Mannheim in 1932. She recalls anti-Semitic incidents; attending a speech by Hitler in Mannheim; her father leaving for France; and her fiance's attempt to leave Germany. She describes Crystal Night, detailing atrocities she witnessed; her conflict due to her love for Germany; being incarcerated in Mannheim prison; and obtaining papers enabling her to emigrate to England.
