  3. Esther Lask photograph collection

    The photographs relate to the experiences of Esther Lask in several displaced persons camps in Germany after World War II. The photographs mainly consist of studio portraits of individuals and informal group images of refugees at various camps. Many of the photographs have handwritten messages on the back.

  4. Singer family papers

    The papers consist of four photographs of Estera Singer [donor], her father, Friedrich, and her sister, Sandra, in the Esslingen, Wasseralfingen, and Feldafing displaced persons samps in Germany as well as two identification cards issued to Friedrich and Estera Singer in Wasseralfingen DP Camp and one affidavit issued on behalf of Friedrich Singer.

  6. Edith Bredehoft papers

    The Edith Bredehoft papers consist of a letter and three postcards sent from Dachau concentration camp by Oskar Richter to Klara (Clara) Richter, circa 1938-1939; and an identifcation card issued to Dr. Oskar Richter in Shanghai, China.

  7. Isaac Bitton papers

    The papers consist of one two-page carbon copy of a letter from Dr. Azancot, head of the Jewish community in Lisbon, Portugal, to President Salazar regarding the protection of refugees in Portugal and photocopies of articles appearing in the Portuguese newspaper "Diario de noticias" regarding the Jewish community in Lisbon.

  8. Reconstruction after WWI

    A documentary motion picture about Poland and its post WWI reconstruction. Shows war-ravaged country, caused by Russian-German conflict, to which Polish refugees return and try to make dugouts livable until they can rebuild homes. Friends Relief Mission provides harnesses and horses to haul wood for reconstruction, amd health care. Mission distributes Christmas gifts provided by Junior American Red Cross, and employs refugees thereby providing self-help.

  9. Saba Baicher papers

    The papers document Saba Baicher's and Israel Baicher's [donor's husband] experiences in the displaced persons camp in Landsberg am Lech, Germany. Included are photographs and identification cards related to Saba's work for the newspaper, "Jidisze Cajtung," an identification card and ORT certificate for Israel, and a wedding invitation for Saba and Israel dated November 12, 1946.

    1. Henry and Rose Basch collection

    Consists of a collection of documents, letters, and photographs documenting the experiences of Henry and Rose Basch while fleeing Nazi occupied Europe to Shanghai, China as well as post-war documentation. Includes documents regarding refugees in Shanghai and their attempts to assist family members in Europe to immigrate. The refugees were cousins of the donor's wife.

  17. Selected records from the State Archives of the Penza Region related to the evacuation of civilians during WWII

    Contains selected records related to the evacuation and resettlement of the Soviet civilians evacuated to the Penza region during WWII. It includes lists of evacuees and their families, statistical data, information about food and medical supplies provided to the evacuated population by the local government authorities etc.

  19. "Ash Camp" photograph album

    The Ash Camp photograph album is a leather bound photograph album, black with embossed horses, which includes 326 mounted and labeled photographs. The photograph album's owner is unknown but includes photographs of the Gabe family, the Saul family, the Jake family, and the Elais family. In addition to candid family photographs, there are also photographs of life in Shanghai, the "Ash Camp," likely a camp for Jewish refugees in Shanghai in 1945, and the distribution of food delivered by parachutes by “Yanks.”

    Contains various records and correspondence files created by the Soviet Government and Communist Party authorities related to the evacuation of civilians to the Republic Mari El during WWII. It includes lists of evacuees, statistical data, information about food and medical supplies etc provided by the above-named authorities to the evacuated population.
