Biographical History

Esther Lask (née Esther Epstein) was liberated in Łódź, Poland in September 1945. She subsequently lived in several displaced person camps including Feldafing, Dieburg, Landsberg, and Rochelle.

Acquisition

The photographs were donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2003 by Esther Lask.

Scope and Content

The photographs relate to the experiences of Esther Lask in several displaced persons camps in Germany after World War II. The photographs mainly consist of studio portraits of individuals and informal group images of refugees at various camps. Many of the photographs have handwritten messages on the back.
