  1. Alice Bloemendahl: Theresienstadt eyewitness account

    This collection contains an eyewitness testimony relating to Terezin concentration camp by Alice Bloemendahl.This is the only surviving letter that she sent to friends in Hamburg whilst she was at Terezin. Bloemendahl describes the cultural, artistic and intellectual activities as well as improvements to the camp implemented by the Jewish inmates.

  10. Franz Szell: correspondence re Alfred Rosenberg

    The letter seeks to demonstrate the racially mixed background of one of the Nazis most virulent exponents of Nazi racial ideology. The collection also includes copies (in several languages) of a letter addressed to Goering, Göbbels and von Neurath, amongst others, containing essentially the same information as in the open letter (936/2). The last letter is addressed to the Justice Minister, Trygre Lie, Oslo, and in addition to the information contained in the above, contains details of the author's own experiences.

    This collection of correspondence mostly emanating from the office of Reichsführer SS deals in the main with administrative matters. It includes 2 original letters from Reichsführer SS, Himmler (1144/1/14; -/23). It also includes an incomplete set of an in-house information sheet providing instructions to SS members on a variety of matters such as dress protocol for visits to concentration camps by SS members (1144/2/4); qualification for wearing the 'Death's Head' ring of the SS (1144/2/2); and orders forbidding membership of clubs deemed inappropriate.

  17. Archives of the West London Synagogue of British Jews

    The archive is composed of correspondence and synagogue papers, 1841-1942, with the principal run of general correspondence files starting in 1863. For the period 1911-23 the files have been sorted alphabetically as well as annually. Earlier correspondence relates to synagogue matters including the prayer books, appeals, the organ, arrears of subscriptions, etc. There are files of applications for membership or seats, copies of the treasurer's reports and financial statements, a lease of synagogue property and papers relating to the appointment of ministers.
