Acquisition

Dr. Gerald Holton and Dr. Gerhard Sonnert donated oral history interviews and supplementary document files from their Project Second Wave collection to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in March 2009. Dr. Holton and Dr. Sonnert produced the Project Second Wave collection in association with Harvard University and with support by a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. The results of their study were published in the book "What Happened to the Children who fled Nazi Persecution."

Scope and Content

Oral history interviews with individuals who were born between 1918 and 1935 in Germany or Austria and came to the United States at a young age as refugees from National Socialism.
