The collection was donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2013 by Robert Palmer, the nephew of Arthur R. Myers.

Myers was an American soldier who entered combat during the D-Day invasion in June 1944. He fought through the Battle of the Bulge and continued until reaching the outskirts of Berlin in April 1945. The war ended with Germany's surrender on May 7.
