Acquisition

The collection was donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 1995 and 2000 by Elfriede Meyer Schloss.

Scope and Content

The collection consists of a tag and documents relating to the experiences of Elfriede Meyer during the Holocaust when she was placed in a Jewish orphanage in France and eventually emigrated to the United States along with other orphaned children with the assistance of the American Friends Service Committee.

The Elfriede Schloss papers contain Elfriede’s travel visa and identification tag, and various news clippings concerning her and other orphans’ arrival to the United States.
