Acquisition

Forms part of the Claims Conference International Holocaust Documentation Archive at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. This archive consists of documentation whose reproduction and/or acquisition was made possible with funding from the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany.

Source of acquisition is the National Archives of Moldova, Fond 706, Fond 666, Fond 679, and Fond 680. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received the filmed collection via the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum International Archives Project in Nov. 2005.

Scope and Content

Contains correspondence, various data, minutes of the meetings of the Council of the Ministries and Governors of the three provinces, bills and other materials related to the political, economical situation in Bukovina, Bessarabia and Transnistria under Romanian occupation during WWII. The collection also includes archival documents related to the implementation of the population policies in provinces by the Romanian authorities as well as Romanianization of Jewish properties and assets, plans and proposals concerning transfers of Romanian population to the newly occupied provinces, surveillance of political suspects, and the like.
