The collection was donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum by Fritz Goldschmidt in 2002.

The book is a novel for Jewish youth describing life on a kibbutz in Palestine. Fritz Goldschmidt inscribed the book with his name and address on the inside front cover. He carried the book with him on his journey from Berlin, Germany, to the United States in 1939
SS Bergensfjord sailor's ribbon

The sailor's ribbon is from a Norwegian ship, the "SS Bergensfjord," on which the donor and his parents traveled to the United States in 1939. The ribbon is made from black fabric decorated with the phrase, "S.S. Bergensfjord," in gold lettering and a red, white, and blue Norwegian flag.
