Acquisition

Forms part of the Claims Conference International Holocaust Documentation Archive at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. This archive consists of documentation whose reproduction and/or acquisition was made possible with funding from the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany.

Source of acquisition is the Archiwum Państwowe w Poznaniu (State Archives in Poznań), Branch in Piła, Poland. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received the collection from the State Archive in Poznań via the United States Holocaust Museum International Archives Project in July 2012.

Scope and Content

Contains records relating to Jewish communities in the cities of Chodzież, Piła, Szamocin, and Trzcianka, in Poland. Included are mainly correspondence, regulations relating to marriages, schools, cultural institutions, and religious objects for Jews. Also contains a name lists of the French prisoners of war and Polish and German workers working in German factories.

System of Arrangement

The system of arrangement of the source repository has been preserved in the microfilmed reels. Files are arranged by localities in three series: 1. Akta miasta Chodzieży; 2. Akta miasta Piła; 3. Akta miasta Trzcianka.
