Biographical History

Notary Office in Farnad was established based in 1886 based on the Law Article XXII. Competence of this notary office remained the same until 1945. The First Vienna Arbitration and subsequent annexation of southern Slovakia by Hungary did not lead to profound changes of the territorial competence of notary offices. According to the census from 1938, there were 2318 people living in Farna including 24 Jews.

Scope and Content

The fonds contains interesting documents pertaining to the persecution of Jews in years 1938-1944. One file pertains to the case of the return of Jewish inhabitant previously deported from the village in 1938. The fonds also contains the Ruling on reporting Jewish businesses after the adoption of the law on the exclusion of Jews from public and economic life. There are also various documents from 1940 concerning several different anti-Jewish measures.

System of Arrangement

Files of the Presidium and files pertaining to the mobilization are arranged chronologically and then numerically. Administrative files are arranged according to topic groups.
